Resumen del Editor

One of reggae's most extraordinary stories, the life of Peter Tosh came to an end when he was brutally murdered in 1987. Now revered second only to Bob Marley among reggae audiences worldwide, Tosh was awarded the Order of Merit as Jamaica celebrated 50 years of independence.

Set against a backdrop of 70s Jamaica, here are the stories behind hits like "Legalise It", "Equal Rights", "Get Up Stand Up", and "Johnny B. Goode;" Tosh's famous appearances at the 1978 One Love Peace Concert and his now legendary adventures with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Tracing his recording career, we learn of his encounters with Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker, and volatile relationships with Bob Marley and Lee "Scratch" Perry.

Tosh's darker side is also revealed in tales of the singer's fascination with the occult and in unprecedented detail, his untimely and tragic demise.

Very informative

Well documented history. Peter Tosh is certainly a legend in his own right. All 3 wailers are legendary in their own way.

Powerful ans Fitting Tribute To Cultural Icon And Activist

Peter Tosh was a cultural gladiator. He had no tolerance for colonialist policy and thought and this made him a hero to freedom fighters everywhere and an enemy of all oppressors (or as Tosh called them ‘down-pressor men’). Misunderstood by the press and exploited by the business associates that he relied on to bring his voice to the people, Tosh did not have an easy road. But history has not abandoned him. The potency of his antifascist and marijuana legalization messages speak louder than ever in the present day. Thank you author John Massouri for your well-researched and balanced account of Tosh’s life and legacy which was published in 2012, but like most things related to Tosh, it was not promoted in the manner it deserved. Actor Cary Hite’s reading is transcendent—a powerful and fitting tribute to a cultural icon and activist whose time has finally come. I’m so glad Amazon finally made this title available—I’ve been waiting on it. Clear your schedule: this title is compulsively binge-worthy.

It hit on all cylinders a well rounded complete list at a very misunderstood artist

As somebody that has followed, reggae music for over 30 years, read many books and 25 years of doing a weekly reggae show. This was such a well written, and fair view of one of my heroes, showing all signs in my opinion from years of interviews.
The performance was great covering the mini dialects of people interviewed to make this book. I highly recommend this to any reggae fan or Cannabis enthusiast and of course freedom fighters everywhere.
