the whole series is amazing. I can't believe how well the author captured what it's like to film in a spherical environment back before there were 360° cameras.

Spider reads as well as he and Jeanne write!!!! I'm very impressed and will continue to read Spider as long as I can ☺️.

Male narrator for a female lead was a bit confusin

I read this novel nearly 30 years ago, when it first came out (back when my eyes allowed actually READING novels, instead of only listening). I only remembered the vague storyline though, and thought this audio would be fun.

And it was! The story is top-rate. One of the better "old sci-fi" audio books I have listened to.

The only negative... Spider is an excellent narrator... but listening to a male talk when the main character is female was frequently disorienting. I would have preferred a female narrator.

FWIW, I have written a few novels myself, and always hire a man to narrate books where the lead is male, and a woman to narrate when the lead is female.

A worthy follow-up

The first novel in this series (Stardance) was absolutely excellent, and this followed suit.

I was surprised at how little the notion of Spider reading the part of the (female) main character interfered... that can kill a book, in my opinion, but it worked here.

Once again, the description provided is a little off of the actual book... but it doesn't matter. Read it.
