As a beleaguered galaxy fights its way back from the brink of destruction, the Jedi’s most fearsome enemy plots to end the war–and claim victory–with a final act of domination. . . .

The troubles for the embattled living planet Zonama Sekot have just begun. As Luke Skywalker and Jacen Solo negotiate its place in the galactic struggle against the Yuuzhan Vong, one of its organic ships is taken by the alien invaders. Scientist Nen Yim is ordered to use the captive to find weak spots in Zonama Sekot’s technology. But what Nen Yim discovers about the planet and its mysteries shocks her to the core. Clearly her people have gone terribly astray. For the peace-loving planet harbors not only the key to its own destruction, but the long-forgotten secrets of the Yuuzhan Vong themselves.

Meanwhile, General Wedge Antilles, commanding one fleet in a three-pronged campaign to retake the Bilbringi system, is suddenly stranded deep in Yuuzhan Vong space, cut off from all contact. Wedge and his ships must rely on trickery and brilliant battle tactics if they are to survive long enough to ensure the success of one of the deadliest and most crucial missions the Galactic Alliance forces

There’s a universality to the Star Wars franchise, a world so sprawling that no matter who you are, you’re bound to find something—an adventure, a moment, a character—that resonates with you. And if you were to ask any fan, they’d likely be able to recount a memory directly tied to the series. On a 2021 journey from the East Coast to the Outer Rim, one Audible editor and Star Wars superfan saw all of her wildest, most interstellar dreams become reality.

This is a deciding novel in this series. Will the war continue? Will a planet survive?

Rogue planet destroyed?

Again, this one is far too heavily condensed to be fully satisfying. But the story is strong enough in this book that it can withstand most of the squish.

The mysteries behind the entire story are mostly revealed here, and it makes even listening to Force Heretic II worth it. Tahiri has become a great character, and Nen Yim, Harrar, and Nom Anor go to the next level. This book really sets the Star Wars universe up for entire series' of adventures after NJO - though LucasArts squandered the opportunity entirely, making the Disney takeover of the books not quite as tragic as it would have been.

The narration is great - Jonathan Davis is the best narrator in the series. Of course, nothing compares to the classic radio style of the Dark Forces.

The best entry in the entire series?

Everything was what you would expect from this series except the length. 1 through 3 parts should have been only parts.

Too short
