Barely recovered from her brush with necromancy, Ivy is flung once more into a world of intrigue, adventure, and potential death and disaster. It's not her fault - it just so turns out that she's now the only person in the entire world who can communicate with the dead. And they're a chatty bunch with a list of demands.
When the ghosts offer information about a witch-hating mass murderer in return for Ivy's help, she has no choice but to get involved. She might be getting herself into more trouble than she realizes, though - and that's even before she's dragged to Sunday dinner so she can meet Winter's family....

in the events surrounding Ivy, I loved the characters (especially the cat) and all attention on the couple.

During times of high tension, the action is interrupted by a lot of internal dialogue. This results in a jarring break that pulls me out of the story. For example, in between a bad guy grabbing Ivy and putting a knife to her neck, she has like ten different snarky thoughts.
While these thoughts are entertaining, they would be better served in another place. During times of high adrenaline, people's minds go blank. If that effect is not carried over to the narrative, the danger rings false and the effect and emotion of a situation is greatly reduced. It's that much harder to believe Ivy is really scared or worried because she still has the presence of mind to crack jokes or reflect, so it's less rewarding when she gets out of it. It would work much better if those thoughts came to her after the situation resolved.
Tanya Eby tries to compensate for these extra thoughts by rushing at breakneck speed through the lines, but the effect is still there. (She was wonderful, by the way.)
I also would have liked to see a little more character development from Rafe. He didn't have a lot of dialogue aside from building up Ivy's ego or murmuring affectionate platitudes. That's not to say I wanted him to argue with Ivy or anything--but a lot of his quirks were established in the first book and reused. There wasn't a lot to discover about him this time around, unfortunately. It can be hard to think this stuff up, I know, but it would be worth the effort because it helps the audience feel that much closer to the characters.
All in all, though, it was a good ending to Ivy and Rafe's stories. Definitely still worth listening to for entertainment value and closure.
