This is just one of those stupid forgettable but fun books.

Basically, you know Guardians of the Galaxy? You know just those bits that are funny? Yep, that is this book pretty much. Does it make a compelling novel? Nah. But does it make me smile? Yeah.

That's this book, a smile. There are other comedic space science fiction books, they are probably better too, but this one? This one was short and funny and I will continue the series.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes Hard Luck Hank, Guardians of the Galaxy, Willful Child, or any other light hearted scifi.

Laugh out loud fun!

Fun story that had me laughing out loud throughout. The story is about a disfunctional team on an assignment to save the galaxy from war. You get to follow the team through a series of misadventures as they learn to trust each other and solve the mystery of who the villains actually are.

Fonk yeah!

If you haven't purchased this... you are wrong. Plain and simple.

Barry J. Hutchison is one hilarious bamston and Phil Thron's narration is delivered with such great timing that it just makes everything feel right. Like a warm, comfy, hilarious hoodie that you wear all the time. Even when it's not cold.

I've listened to this series multiple times now and I am ashamed at myself for not leaving this review sooner. Stop what you are doing and get this book. Then the next 10 that follow it. Then the Dan Deadman series. It's totally worth it.

Story really drags on

I've never read, or listened to a book where the author took so much time explaining every little thought, movement and observation of each and every character. And, in my opinion, this exposition was not necessary to tell the story. I was really excited to but this, and all the other books in the series because the description of this book -- and series -- is right up my alley.

It is a 7 + hour book (on Audible). I could only get through about 2 hrs of it before I just had to stop. I even has it on 1.5 speed.

I wanted to write this review to let readers know that I recommend getting the first book in this series to see if it moves along fast enough for you.

NOTE: Phil Thron, the narrator is awesome. I will look for other book performed by him because he is fantastic.

kinda boring

The narrator was great, but I had a hard time finishing the book. The very beginning was funny, but I lost interest because many of the characters' interactions with each other didn't seem realistic or reasonable, and the humor was just a little off for me.

A wonderfully hilarious gem

Give it a chance!

I was wary of this book, the covers leave a lot to be desired and honestly look like bad photoshop, the little text balloons made me think a high schooler had written these so I stayed a way. I was correct in thinking it was immature, but boy how it is just the right kind of immature!

I loved this book. The plot is very predictable, as are all the character motivations and so forth, but the characters are fun and likable. The banter is downright hilarious at times, at other times it can be a bit much but overall very well done.

My only complaints are the predictable plot (which is easily overlooked in my opinion due to how damned fun the writing is) and at times the narrator seems to have trouble differentiating genders. Sometimes his women growl like men, which there’s nothing wrong with, but in this case it makes the characters all sound the same at times.

A very small complaint in an otherwise wonderful performance!

Do give this a shot if you want some fun silly banter and lovable characters.

Love a good sci-fi series that also makes me laugh

Well done Mr. Hutchison and Mr. Thron. Quite an entertaining take on epic sci-fi, loved this book. The characters are great, the language is so very real, and the reactions of the characters are dead on. Word of warning to other audible listeners.. be careful with this one if you're driving. I was rolling up Route 17 when the name of the ship was announced and it was hard to keep the car on the road as I was belly laughing so hard. Several spots in the story almost had me laughing to tears. Its great to listen to a genre you love, and to have a story woven that feels so real, and makes you laugh that hard.
Looking forward to the rest of the series...

a fun and funny romp

A funny, fun, and highly implausible romp across the galaxy pursued by various Monsters and Aliens. Our Intrepid Hero and his reluctant team are clearly overmatched and chasing their tails from the go, but they never quite give up. The ending is really not much of a surprise as it's foreshadowed rather heavily by mid-novel, but it's still a lot of fun. I'd recommend it.

Great silly putty with the usual incompetent heroes, villans, and outrageous aliens.. of course they come up smelling like roses

Heard story-type before - excellent narration

I admit at times the writing did make me laugh, so it was enjoyable. The best aspect of this book is the narration. . Mr Thron does a great job at all the different characters. Overall a positive review.
