this is a great listen action and adventure
some paranormal bits i just loved it looking
to the rest of the story i stayed up late just to hear the ending

the characters are full of complex emotions and motives, and there's plenty of action to go around too. Demons, dark wizards, mythical creatures, mystical realms, friendship, loyalty, betrayal, adventures, fantastic beasts

I absolutely loved this story. A wonderful beginning to a new series. The narrator definitely helped make the story easy to listen to and understand.

Ok, I just finished this book. First thought... It's amazing I love the characters the fight against good and evil. This could and should be a series on TV. It would be amazing. I thought the author did a great job in creating this story and I also thought the narrator did a great job. I can't wait for more books and I hope that he who I can't name does come back.

Journey into darkness

bit of grimdark. everyone is a bit angst ridden except the kings messenger. a great battle was won but evil resurrection leads to another quest. like a horror show, no individual is safe and the gallant crew of the sailing ship feel like Odysseus' crew after a bit
a slow start but picked up at the end with solid close
the narrator was solid and used his vocal skills for a mix of characters.

I'll pick up 2nd book

Good listen

Very good listen started kinda slow but picked up and stayed up I recommend this one to my friends and will be giving the rest of the books a try.

I enjoyed the scope and narrative of the story

This is a classic epic fantasy story, well narrated, with broad worldbuilding and good descriptive language. I enjoyed the extensive vocabulary, so often missing from more recent novels, but thought it was used with a slightly more liberal hand than necessary--sometimes simpler word choices are punchier. Nevertheless, I do like authors using a wide range of the English language for clarity and nuance. I think this author will find a very nice balance as he writes more. I recommend this audiobook for those who like sword and sorcery epics.
