screwtape proposes a toast could not be more current than today. the trend of old things increasing in relevance is intensifying

Excellent! Will definitely re read!

Once again? C.S. Lewis doesn't disappoint. His brilliant writing, amazing grasp of the English language and broad vocabulary and specificity of thought meet his depth of understanding and wisdom about our thought processes of a people and the turnings and tides of societal opinions and brainwashing. I just literally would read anything he wrote.

It’s interesting how his observations are still relevant today. Maybe even more so than when they were first written.

Heartilly enjoyed

I heartilly enjoyed this. Oddly very apporpriate for today. Would recommend a listen. Narrator superb. I can imagine C.S. Lewis sounding just the same.

To think about

Some of the most important thoughts we won’t think about. Ideas we can ignore because everyone else is ignoring them too. Ignore. Escaping from thought. For example how we celebrate Xmas even those of us pretending to celebrate Christmas. Incredible.

Quick read and very thought provoking

Short and deep. very typical C.S. Lewis. I recommend giving it a listen if you are in a situation where you can focus on it.

Excellence

Mr. Lewis remains one of our most astute and discerning social, cultural and academic leaders even decades later. His reason is only sharpened by his Christian faith.

An Excellent Collection

A wonderful collection of brief essays written by Lewis. It even includes some of the Screwtape Letters and Screwtape proposes a toast. Lewis writes with a poignancy that is lost to most of today’s authors. A wonderful listen.

Great book

Another great series of articles by C S Lewis which I greatly enjoyed reading and will read it again.

Pairing of Reader and Author

While of course, Lewis did not read this himself, the reader of the book did a fantastic job of altering their speech to match the emphasis of Lewis’s writings.
