Live video is laid bare inside Social Media Marketing Live. There are a bucket full of awesome tips and little known tricks to growing your live stream audience with each new show you produce. I can’t wait to apply this to my own YouTube channel to help grow my subscriber base above that magical 1,000 sub goal.

This should be first choice reading for marketers

Something I’ve read over and over again, on websites such as Buffer and the like, is that live streaming video gets high priority on both YouTube and Facebook. In other words, if you want your video content to trend and standout, you need to start making Live shows more often. Throughout this book Rory dives deep into all the things you need to consider before, during, and after your live streaming shows. And in each chapter you learn how individual social media websites can be used to turn this entertainment platform into a marketing tool. Recommended!

Liking what I’ve heard so far…

The strategies outlined in this book have helped clear up a number of misconceptions I had about live streaming. I thought going live meant you had to do hour long cable TV show presentations, but far from it. Instead, Rory places a focus on giving your viewers more authenticity and sneak peaks behind the curtains of your business - all of which help to foster a better connection with your customers and clients. Its a very different way of thinking when it comes to live streaming, and I like it!

A nice roundup of all the most important streaming platforms. The Twitch section in particular is amazing as I feel that Twitch is a social media website that is woefully underutilized right now.

Packed with Practical tips

There is a lot to unpack as you work your way through this audiobook. I would recommend this book is better listened too once your sat down in a coffee shop with pen and paper in hand, rather than whilst you’re driving to work. Give it a listen and you’ll get the gist of what I mean by that.

Essential listening if you sell online

Whether you realize it or not, live video is being pushed hard by the social media Powers That Be. In fact, it is one of the best ways to get around falling levels of organic reach on so many different platforms. The moment your channel has a streaming video, FB/IG/YT will notify your followers immediately ~ regardless of whether or not your organic reach has fallen to pitifully low levels (*cough* Facebook Pages *cough*). All of this and more is explained throughout Social Media Marketing Live where Rory helps you get to grips with this daring new way to distribute your ideas, products, and brand to the world.

Incredible

What an incredible book. I mean I knew about YouTube and Instagram live of course, however I didn’t know that Twitch allowed non-gamers on-board as well. Very interesting!

Not Super Applicable

This was clearly written by somebody who has done zero successful live stream campaigns. This book is very clearly the result of aggressive Google searches. There are some helpful tidbits but there's also a lot of false information. An example of this is the cost analysis near the beginning of the book. Thousands of dollars of equipment are recommended, including staffing, expensive software, and a top of the line camera. Anybody under thirty should know that 90% of live streams are done by a single person using a smartphone camera or webcam, usually through OBS (a free software that, while later mentioned, is only associated with Twitch within the book). Additionally, the narration is passable, but very monotone and boring. Basically you're better off doing your own research on Google than getting this book in terms of both time and cost efficiency.
