Resumen del Editor

Two little girls holding hands and singing in the back seat of a car. There for each other. Unafraid. Life for the Stone girls is a life lived on the edge. Singing for a living, Marley and Andi find their way through a childhood of upheaval marked by their mother Donna’s dark, unpredictable flights.

Today, Marley writes the songs her twin - country diva Andi Stone - makes famous, and the girls’ connection struggles to survive the cuts and devastation of fame. “You girls,” laments their manager. “One of you marries indiscriminately, the other not at all.”

When, without warning, Donna Stone takes her own life, alone at the family cabin, danger stalks Marley back to Lost Prince Lake and back into the love and betrayal of the past. Hidden truths threaten to take the Stone sisters down, singly and together.

A powerful, intimate portrait of love, ambition, and survival, So Long As We’re Together takes the listener into the lives of three women who give song to broken hearts and for whom music is the language of family.

Recommended for those who love family dramas!

So Long As We're Together by Glenda Burgess is a fast paced, family drama about the Stone sisters. Marley is a middle aged songwriter for her twin sister Andi, a semi-famous country music singer. The story begins with Marley in a mid-life crisis and her sister not caring very much. From almost the beginning of the book, there are flashbacks of the way things used to be when the girls were young, happy, and innocent as they traveled the country with their mother as a country duo.

When their mother unexpectedly commits suicide, Marley travels to Idaho to clean out the family’s cabin and get it ready to sell. It is there that Marley finds her center questioning why her mother would end her own life. Similarly Andi finally grows up when she joins Marley at the cabin. I really enjoyed watching the sisters grow closer together throughout this compelling story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by the amazing Carolyn A. Lee. Her narration flows naturally at an even pace and she uses differing voices and accents for all characters. She also exhibits the right amount of urgency, disappointment, and longing in all the right places. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys reading/listening to family drama stories, especially those involving country music.
