Resumen del Editor

Two little girls, frozen in black and white. One picture worth killing for.The Civil Rights Movement is less than a distant memory to Lisa Waldren - it is someone else’s memory altogether, passed on to her through the pages of history. Her life as a federal prosecutor in Boston feels utterly remote from the marches in the South that changed her father’s generation - and the entire nation - forever.

But the truth is, she was there. When a photograph surfaces showing a blond, four-year-old Lisa playing with an African-American girl at a civil rights march in Fort Worth, Lisa is faced with a jarring revelation: the girls may have been the only witnesses who observed the real killer of civil rights leader Benjamin Gray...and therefore the only ones who can exonerate the death row inmate falsely accused of the murder.

Soon, Lisa finds herself in the dangerous world her father had shielded her from as a child. After some searching, the Waldrens find the other little girl from the photo and, in the process, uncover conspiracy mere steps away from the likes of Bobby Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and J. Edgar Hoover. Based on real events and a photograph snapped by author Lis Wiehl’s own G-man father, Snapshot is a remarkably original marriage of mystery and history.

Narration ruins it

I tried really hard to give the narrator a break but just couldn't. It almost ruined the book for me completely. She reads very peppily and upbeat like she's reading a children's book NOT a conspiracy murder mystery. There's almost no differentiation between character voices, especially the men; it's just simply not how anyone would talk in these situations. It really made it hard to get into and feel the intensity of the plot.

Curiously realistic

I found it very easy to listen to. I was able to follow the storyline with ease even during times of stepping back in time and then back into the current time frame. I found the story to be quite realistic. Maybe these story lines within the pages could have happened or a fraction of that was the truth. A very good read, or listen, for me.

What an accurate depiction of the world!

This is a fantastic story of what seems to be a world-wide deep-seated problem of prejudice! I live in South Africa, and was brought up in a Christian home that taught us to see the best in everybody, whether they were black, white, brown, or green with pink spots! We played with other races and never thought any less of them because of their race, but after 1994, I was shocked to hear exactly what was going on under our noses without us having a clue! But through your book, I have seen that it was as rife in America, and know Australia with the Aboriginies, New Zealand with the Mauries (pls 'scuse spelling), as much as here, but likewise there were many "white" people in each of these countries who did not support it. Oh for the day when we see Jesus face to Face, where prejudice of any kind will not even be in our thoughts, and where there will be no darkness of any kind!
