Resumen del Editor

No birth announcement could top the headlines from the day Janie and Jack Perkins entered the world. As twins born to a mother in a coma - courtesy of a bullet from their father - the sensational story of their birth never quite died down. While Jack still craves the flash of a camera, Janie seeks sanctuary behind the lens - as a crime scene photographer.

Thanks to Janie's line of work, she's comfortable around gruesome murders. But when old photos of her mother's body arrive in the mail, they open deep-seated wounds and raise chilling new questions about who really was responsible for that deadly night.

Did Janie's father spend decades in jail as an innocent man? Did an infamous serial killer actually take her mother's life? With photos in hand, Janie brings the truth into focus. But when her investigation ends up evoking the wrath of the long-dormant killer, she must race to piece together the final evidence - before she becomes the target.

loved it!

Great story, the kind you don't want to put down, and you don't want to end!

A good story! Great narration!

Fun story, well written. Enjoyed that there could be a love scene that wasn't traffic and left much to readers imagination. Somewhat macabre in places, but not over the top grotesque.

SKEWED 5*7*5

What did you love best about Skewed?

The constant guessing, not being able to figure things out until the last few pages!!
Kept me on the edge of my seat!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Skewed?

The first couple of pages, I had to go back and read them over and over again.
Also, when Janie reads her mother's journal.

What does Emily Sutton-Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Empathy for the mother and her twins.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I think this is a perfect title for this book!!

Any additional comments?

Narration was good but...

It was hard to distinguish the difference in some of the characters since the narrator was not very good with men's voices.
The story was very interesting and held my interest right up to the end.
I am not a big mystery buff but this book was worth the time money.

slow to start

Once the story got underway it holds your attention. This is not a great book but a good one.

Great Book @ $8.08

This one pulled me in right from the start. It took me a minute to get used to the back and forth between the past and present, but I wound up really enjoying that. The characters were likable, most of them, and relatable; felt almost like you knew them. I was pretty pleased with myself for figuring the mystery out early on, only to have a HOLY CRAP moment much later on. I can't say more without giving stuff away. Pretty good plot twists though. I kept telling myself 'just one more chapter' and wound up crawling into bed about an hour later. Couldn't put it down!

Emily Sutton-Smith is one of my favourite narrators and she was outstanding with the delivery of this story

Good Mysteries Thrillers read. Keeps you guessing

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed the book all the way to the end. There are many twists and turns that keep you guess all the way to the end. Twins are left orphans by a serial killer who gets out of prison after 30 years. Their grandfather who raised the twins is in the hospital and in a coma. Janie is a photographer for the local police and Jack is the district attorney. Both are hands on w/ the law, both would do anything for each other. The father is sticking to his story that he was not the serial killer, that here was someone else in the house the night the twins mother was killed. The narration was excellent, well done Emily Sutton-Smith. If you like mystery how done it books you will enjoy this one.

Good for Marshmallows

Snarky tone reminded me of Veronica Mars. I'll look for more of her books.

DISAPPOINTING

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not really, the story starts out with the main character believing that Grady was at fault for killing her mother - then it takes you on a long journey to change her mind and make you believe that someone else was at fault and he was in prison unjustly. All of this - just to find out he was the killer. What a waste.

I really liked the story up until the end - I liked how it flipped back and fourth between the present and the past.

The ending was just so disappointing because I envisioned Janie's closed minded perception that Grady killed her mother and that now they could have a father / daughter relationship, and since he really was the killer it made other things earlier not really make any sense. Also, since Bridget found the note on accident - why was the Leroy guy following her like he did back to her place if he wasn't the killer? Makes NO sense now. The ending would have made more sense if he was not the killer. Also, the book never lined out what Leroy was going to do with the note he found, or who the note was really for. Was it an accident that it went down that way or was that the way Grady meant for it to happen? No one knows....

If you’ve listened to books by Anne McAneny before, how does this one compare?

This is my first book by Anne McAneny

Have you listened to any of Emily Sutton-Smith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have no idea - I think this is my first audio by Emily Sutton-Smith

Hard to follow

The story was good, but the constant flashbacks made it hard to follow at times.
