I thoroughly insightful view in mission control for the shuttle. This book mixes just the right about of theory with explanations and real world stories from the author's career. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a very long time.

MUST READ if you have any interest in the Shuttle!

Excellent book! very interesting and informative if you want to know tge story from the other side of the Shuttle program. Didn't want it to end. You definitely need to be a bit of a science and space geek, but still a good read for the average listener.

This book covers the shuttle years at NASA.

I have read dozens of books about the early NASA years, but this is the first that covers the shuttle years. It was one of those books that I found myself wanting to listen to, even if I only had 10 minutes available, so it gets five stars.

A Mildly Interesting Insiders Tale with AI-Like Narration

The book was decent. As a space history fan, I thought it was a little light on old war stories and anecdotes from Dye’s career (there were certainly some, but not enough). I could have done without all of the pontificating about great leadership, and much of it felt more like a corporate motivational speech than a memoir (the word “synergy” was used, and more than once—yuck!)

The performance was simply bad. I had to look back at the credits here to see that it was, indeed, read by a human being, or I would have sworn it was AI-generated text-to-speech narration. His rhythm and diction were so awkward as to give the impression of a robot doing its best to imitate human speech. It was abundantly clear that he had no familiarity whatsoever with the subject matter (he pronounces “prop” as “prope”). I found it incredibly distracting. I give two stars instead of one, only because his voice has a pleasant timbre, and the audio was quite crisp and clear.
