With her two soldier friends Nic and Eve providing backup, the three travel to a small town in the Jewelrose Clan. But can they rescue the Master Magician without being caught in the same trap?

Great Short Story<br />

I will listen to the dawn story again. love your books Maria V Snyder. your narrator is fantastic.

Really good but

This was really good but, it was weird having Gabra back as the narrator. While I think the other reader sounded a bit old for an early twenties character, I'd gotten used to her.
Other than that, I loved this glimpse into Opal and Devlin's life.
Only thing is, I didn't realize that this should've been read after the fifth Study book, so now I've got to live with the suspenseful ending for two books!
So, while I recommend,I think you should know about the reading oder:First three study books: Poison Study,Magic Study, and Fire Study, then the Poison Study short stories, followed by the Glass books, Shadow Study, Night Study, and this one, before moving onto the final Study book.

Ending is a bummer

I just wish the author went into the story a little more I was a little disappointed

prequel to Dawn Study

events in this story happen at the same time as things happening in the course of events of Dawn Study. it was nice to know what was happening with Opal but this ends with a cliffhanger that I suppose is answered midway through DS,but I regret this buy. it could easily be fanfiction except for the author

Connects loose ends

Lovely insight into Reema, and excellent insight into Opal's home life, as well as what happened to Zitora. I read the books that came before and after, but it has been a while and I don't feel anything was spoiled for me.

The only obvious complaint is it is too short. And I really dislike a particularly dreadful man, even if he did repent.
