wonderful story based on, unfortunately, historical reality. I have hearing difficulties and the narator 's words remained very clear to my pathetic ears.

Not the best in the series

I have thoroughly enjoyed the series! Twists, turns and information that gives us a a glimpse of life during this timeframe. This book also had information, but the whining and “ oh woe is me by Lydia” was just too much. I thought Silkstone should cut her loose and pursue a woman with more sense.

great series, better narrator. I love Simon Vance's voice, no matter what the story is.

Thoroughly enjoying this series

I’ve read every book so far in the series & love them. It’s obvious the author has done her research for a rich historical fiction series. Tapping into true historical events and painting fantastic word pictures (okay I love historical mysteries and medicine - since the MC is an Anatomist there are some “sights and smells”). I appreciate addressing of issues pertinent to history and today. In this book we have “ancient rights”, landlords, industrialization, the plight of women under subjection and how easy it was to put them aside.

The Narration is very good and adds to the majority of the story. I’ve gotten used to the female voices which aren’t done as pitch perfect as the male ones. The narrator really hits the mark with men in both tone, emotion and accents. Great read and listen both.

This was very good but again so frustrated with Lydia. Only one more story and beg it to be resolved.

Very exciting story involving many plots and inner stories Excellent narrative by Mr. Vance. Cannot wait for Book 6.

Not the best but it was ok

I didn't care for the dubbed in voice. The story overall repeated information a lot.

One of my favorites in the series

I absolutely loved this book in the series. I was so sucked in and invested in what was going on. All the characters were so good and interesting. And I love, love, love the undercurrent story about lady Lydia and Dr Thomas Silkstone. I am so excited to listed you the next book.

Narrator is wonderful too.

The author includes a bit of history in an imaginative story. The reader brings the characters to life.

Excellent, except…

This is an engaging, well written story, excellently performed. The ratings that appear above are not exactly the ratings that I wanted.Overall and performance I would give it five stars, and four stars for story. The ending, however, was contrived, and obviously intended to entice the reader to want to read the next book in the series.
