Resumen del Editor

Cursed by the god who shares his name, Seti was an Egyptian king who lost everything: his name, his kingdom, even the man he loved more than anything in the world. For centuries he's waited in a dusty, forgotten sarcophagus, until Logan came along.

Logan is a graduate student who stumbles upon Seti in the basement of a museum and accidentally awakens him. Logan figures any way he looks at it, a missing mummy is going to be bad for his career, so he takes Seti with him until he can decide what to do. He doesn't want to be accused to theft, but who's going to believe in a mummy coming back to life?

Seti and Logan have a lot more to worry about than the modern day police. There's a group of scientists that want Seti for more than decoration and a vengeful god with an agenda to get Seti gone once and for all. Logan has to deal with all of that, but his biggest problem might just be Seti himself, who's trying hard to get into Logan's pants and his heart.

Love this book!

I have listened to this audiobook multiple times since purchasing it. I bought the book a long time ago and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it on Audible while I was searching for more works narrated by Joel Leslie (seriously...hands down, the best).

You definitely have to suspend some belief in this story, but I loved the ride anyway. It’s such a unique storyline, yet is not overly angsty (which I’m not a fan of). It’s really an entertaining read and one that I turn on when I want to re-live a great adventure.

Funny and witty action

I really enjoyed this listen. The narrator was perfect for this quirky action/adventure mm romance. He is the same narrator from Foxe Tails and this listen had a lot of the same elements. The basic story is a 5000 year old Egyptian king is cursed by one of the Egyptians gods. Our hero Logan inadvertently frees him and love and adventure ensues. There is a lot of witty humor as Seti adjusts to the 21st century. The dialogue among the gods is pretty funny too. There is a merry Scooby gang which tries to help the couple when they are pursued by the “evil” scientist. I only have two minor nits. First, it wasn’t long enough and thus felt a little rushed in the story; not enough to take away the enjoyment, but there is not a lot of character building. Second, a minor character dies and I don’t understand why that was necessary as it really didn’t bring much to the story except make me sad. I think it was used as a plot device to incite the other characters to act, but I didn’t like it. Other than that, worth a credit as a unique, fun listen.

Joel always does a great job.

Kiernan's wonderful story is made even better by Joel's deft and colorful narration. I enjoyed the characters. The contemporary vernacular of Osiris was a delight.

A little off the wall...but darn sexy.

Imagine "A Night at the Museum" but way hotter. A museum apprentice accidentally awakens a 5,000 cursed mummified warrior king, who happens to be gay and look like an Armani model. It sounds wacky, and at times (when the Egyptian gods come into play) it might get too far fetched.... but this is a really fun story with great characters and some seriously sexy scenes. The narrator does a nice job navigating the various tones of the book... bringing out the humor in the supporting cast, giving the right tone to the m/m action and also navigating the challenging scenes with the Gods. I really enjoyed it and I think it would actually make a great beginning for a series. Logan and Seti have great chemistry and they make a super sexy spin on the odd-couple idea. I thought Logan was a wonderful character - and I also thought it was pretty cool that the characters were vers.

One hot mummy.

Would you consider the audio edition of Seti's Heart to be better than the print version?

I think so... I loved the narration. Logan's friends are all very fun and lively - you got a real sense of personality. The narrator also does a great job with the villains and he brings out a lot of humor in the main characters... He embraces the somewhat goofy aspects of this mythological adventure and brings out the playfulness. It's a great listen.

What did you like best about this story?

I actually though the sexual dynamic between Logan and Seti was really great.... I loved that it changed and it really charted character development. I think that is something that isn't explored a lot in m/m romance... and I enjoyed it. I think the book has some great steamy material, but the humor in the book and the character of Logan were my favorite.

What does Joel Leslie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a really vibrant theatrical approach to narration... it might not be everyone's cup of tea (if you like a kind of removed detached reader) but I thought it really brought it to life. He has strong comic timing and that really played well in some of the sequences - particularly where if the material had been taken too seriously it probably would have verged on silly. Instead he embraced the Indiana Jones/The Mummy campiness of some of the scenes and I thought it really was great.

Who was the most memorable character of Seti's Heart and why?

Logan - he's a really likable hero.

Sleeper hit?

I’ve had this book in my library for months and kept finding other books to listen to. Though the blurb did catch my interest, I bought it mainly because of the performer. I simply can’t call Joel Leslie narrator. He gives a fantastic performance in every book I’ve heard him narrate.
I honestly think I kept putting off listening to this book because I find the cover so blah. I’ve now learned exactly why they say “don’t judge a book by it’s cover! This book is a gem! The story kept my interest. It had lots of humor and great sexy times. I adored both Seti and Logan. But Osiris, OMG. That God had me in stitches! Balloon artist extraordinaire! 😂😂😂😂 And gatorboy!
I had never read anything my Kiernan Kelly either. I plan to read more from her.
If, like me, the cover makes you think it might be blah, just remember it’s Joel Leslie. You’re always guaranteed a fantabulous performance by him. That being said, I think I’d like this book almost as much if I read it myself. Though if I did, my brain would translate it to Joel’s voice anyway. I would love it if this story had a sequel, but the HEA didn’t lead me to believe there would be one. It felt complete. I just don’t want to be finished with Logan and Seti.
This is definitely going into my re-listen folder!
