A Gripping Episode!

I have just listened to the audiobook ( have also read the book) and the narration is superb. The voices used fit the characters perfectly and this gave a clearer picture of each of them.
The following was my book review:
A much shorter but also very intense book with some quite funny moments thrown into all kinds of situations which made this a rather enjoyable story. The continuing theme of passion is also very evident and I loved the bossiness of Grethe and Rutger's 'willing' participation, all in the name of producing children.
I also liked that we got to visit or revisit with some of the other characters from previous stories.
The way this book ended, it is very obvious that there is more to come and I am definitely looking forward to that!
I am very happy to recommend both the book and the audiobook as both are enjoyable and extremely entertaining.

Rutger and Grethe

The story of the ship wreck and 6 couples continues. I did not like Grethe, acting cruel, stubborn and mean. Rutger is a nice guy and I don’t understand his feelings towards Grethe. But she is not completely as who she seems in the beginning of this book. A few stars less because of the heroine character,

Earthy, lusty and romantic Viking tale!

This series is so refreshing. The books are earthy, lusty, romantic and feel so authentic. Gareth Davis is great doing the narration, with his gravelly voice making the story gritty and atmospheric. And there are sound effects too. There is mystery and an ominous setting here with the men of the island either dying of a disease or abandoning the land and the wreck of the Viking ship that brings 6 men to the island is shrouded in mist too. Each book has a different pairing and I love Grethe and Rutger. They both suffered betrayal and abandonment so they have trust issues. They spark and argue and easily mistrust each other but they have great chemistry and hot sex. The other couples are in the background so you keep up with their stories and with each book a few more hints and supernatural events lead to the grand finale in the next book.

I love this series, and always look forward to listening to each instalment. This time, it's the turn of Grethe and Rutger to try to find their happy ever after. No easy task because Grethe seems intent on alienating Rutger at every turn.

Grethe was left hurt by Sven, her former betrothed and now Grethe’s feelings of betrayal have turned her into a very bitter woman who thinks all men are the same as Sven and not to be trusted. But when the men were shipwrecked on the island, she was chosen to be paired with Rutger.

When Rutger first awoke, he had no memory of the shipwreck and had no idea why he was bound and a prisoner, at the mercy of Grethe, a sharp-tongued woman, who seemed intent on using his body but not giving him any pleasure. Will Rutger find a way to win the heart of this fiery vixen? He's falling in love with her, but wonders if Grethe will ever be able to love him and put that bitterness caused by Sven's betrayal behind her. Will she ever see the man he is and trust him, or will her sharp tongue and cruel taunts push him away? Will he choose to follow his Jarl, or will he choose her?

What is the secret the Island is keeping? I guess we'll have to wait for the next book to learn more about the mysterious disease, the strange fog and what is going to happen to the people on the island.

The narration by Gareth J Davies is excellent as always.

Excellent Viking Romance

I love Viking stories! Maybe it’s my Celtic bloodline, but this series definitely satisfied my Viking romance obsession! The premise is fantastic: a Viking ship crashes on the shore of an island inhabited only by women. What happened to the men is a bit of a mystery that unfolds throughout the series. In short, the men went mad and abandoned the women, leaving them to eventually die out if they can’t produce children. The women believe the Gods have answered their prayers by sending them these strong, virile Vikings. Perfect for their baby-making plans. Their idea is simple: procreate with the Vikings, then send them on their way. But of course, things don’t go quite as planned. These independent women are in for more than they bargained for with Vikings who come with wicked senses of humor, filthy mouths, and plenty of stamina to… rise to the occasion.

If you enjoy Viking culture and romance, you can imagine how entertaining these pairings are! This collection includes the first three stories in the series. While the women and Vikings all share the same goal, each couple faces unique struggles and challenges, which kept the stories fresh and engaging.

The steamy scenes are very hot, and one unique touch is the addition of subtle sound effects (crashing waves, birds, etc) at just the right moments to enhance the experience. The narrators did an incredible job conveying the characters’ personalities and emotions; they truly performed the story rather than just reading it.

Five of the six books are already available on audiobook, and I’m eagerly waiting for the final one to release. If you’re a fan of Viking romances with humor, heat, and heart, this series is well worth your time!
