David K. Martin
Luther, Calvin, and Knox: Three men who changed the world because they were radically driven and shaped by the Word of God. To study their lives apart from this perfect Word would be folly, and to study the Word apart from its work in history would be incomplete.
Living & Active: Volume I introduces us to the catalysts of the Reformation, through the Scripture that shaped them, in hope that we too would find God's Word alive and active in our souls.

very good

The book is short (roughly six commutes to and from work) but simply and elegantly handles some pretty complex material and even more complex figures. The author has combined a concise introduction to the Reformation with truncated, yet interesting biographical histories of three of its most renowned persons. He does so with a warm and generous, yet sober look at those figures, their triumphs and failures, all while also relating those figures (as well as their triumphs and failures) to modern life and struggles.
David K. Martin reads this work for you at a pace that encourages the listener to absorb the words and rightly consider the beauty of the text and its themes.
Together, this audio book is partly biography, partly history, partly introspection, and partly a quiet appeal to humanity to return to something for which every person and culture longs.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A fantastic, short, and accessible book!
