Entertaining story, performance somewhat annoying

This is another entertaining book in this series. I love the characters. There is plenty of suspense and danger along with a slowly building clean romance. The happy ending completes the package. However, I much preferred reading the book. I found this performance somewhat annoying and it was hard to listen to.

Please get a new narrator

The whiny voices depicting women and Ben in this story are like nails on a blackboard. I actually prefer virtual voice to this.

Nice Story but the reader is annoying.

I like the series, but the reader has got to go. Very annoying, whiny and obnoxious. I almost didn’t want to finish. I really like Laura Scott, but I am going to have to read the next book on my own.

Fast and whiny

With this being read aloud, it's hard to know if the whiny voices were written or the narrator's interpretation. The child in the story is 8, not 5. His voice was almost always whiny which got hard to listen to after awhile. I get he has recently gone through losing his mom, but his behavior seems out of line for his supposed age. He literally puts himself, and consequently others, in mortal danger at least 3 times. The female lead added to the whining quite a lot. She was also rude more than necessary even under the circumstances. The whole string of events happened in a 48-72 hour timeframe yet she acts like it's been going on for months.
I have enjoyed this series overall but, it's formula is becoming somewhat repetitive after 3 or 4 books. The formula just didn't work for this couple in my opinion. They barely had any previous relationship, continully throughout the story seemed uninterested in a relationship, barely any romance expressed, yet in the end they're madly in love and engaged? I thought for sure, under the circumstances, the author would adjust the formula to this particular couple and the ending would show them maybe start to date, but no. A little disappointing and unrealistic. I'm unsure if I'll continue the series after this one although I love the idea of the SARS dogs and the family Ranch, I can pretty much predict at least the romance side of things with this series.

Interesting story!

Fast paced and lots of twists with an interesting endgame. Great storytelling by Garrett too!
Found the main lady a bit whiny towards the end … but having never been in such a situation I gave her some leeway!

The whining voices

It’s somewhat a theme in this series. The woman and child in this book are so whiny I thought my head would bleed. An adult woman shouldn’t have any reason to be this annoyed all the time. It’s nauseating. I like the story, but it’s difficult to handle the tone and delivery of these characters. The previous book in the series was a reprieve and a delight, which is why I carried on with the series (plus the fact that I purchased them). But it’s back for this book. So sad. I think I’ll start whining about it.
