The Forgotten Daughter
A Christian Small-Town Detective Thriller About a Vanished Girl and a Secret That Won’t Stay Buried
by Russell Knight

📚 She vanished. The town forgot. But God didn’t.

Twenty-one years ago, teenager Claire Lawson disappeared from Ashford Hollow. Branded a runaway. Dismissed. Forgotten. Until now.

Veteran detective Gabriel Foster, a man shaped by failure and flickers of faith, receives an anonymous envelope with a photo of Claire—dated after the investigation closed—and a charm bracelet stained with blood. Haunted by the case that broke him, Gabriel reopens the files nobody wants touched. The trail leads straight into a web of small-town corruption, spiritual manipulation, and buried trauma.

As Gabriel uncovers lies wrapped in scripture and silence, he must confront not only institutional power but his own crisis of faith. Because finding Claire isn’t just about justice—it’s about redemption. And in a town that teaches obedience above truth, someone still believes obedience must be enforced at any cost.

Will Gabriel risk everything—even his soul—to bring light into the darkness?

I wanted something clean to read, no language or spice but love investigations. This was exactly what I was looking for. I like how I could visual see how people were moving or saying things by the authors descriptions. This was my first time listening to something narrated by ai and it was different but still not bad. Love that it showed that you can find the light even in a really dark place. Hope to find more books like this

There is a saying among authors that you need to "slay your darlings". It means that the writer needs to sacrifice his/her ego for the sake of making a great book. This book has a lot of artsy writing that is extremely hard to follow, and downright irritating. He is trying to convey emotion and fact a lot of times while telling what is happening with these chopping constant interruptions to the story. Felt like trying to hear a story in a violent windstorm. The content is pretty far out there and there isn't a whole lot in the way of Christian inspiration. It is sort of thrown in at the end for the most part. It wasn't nearly as bad as the next book I listened to from another author, so I would say this book is an okay listen, but don't set your expectations too high.
