There is very little out there showing how spoken word artists go from slinging poetry CDs out of their trunks to finding success in the world, whether it’s in Hollywood like Saul Williams, in publishing like Jessica Care Moore, or as a writer like Kwame Alexander. I remember the Kwame that was going from city to city sharing incredibly powerful poetry and collecting just enough gas money to get back to his crib. It is wonderful to see what saying “yes” has done for him. I’m keeping hope alive for myself and others! Thank you for the inspiration Kwame!
