Narrator and tone. Humor of the author.

Solid book. Carries on the world KJ has built so far, with dry humor and amazing story telling. Great narrator.

A great adventure

Saevus is the gritty, sarcastic, and unexpectedly dangerous version of prince charming. A character that grows on you like a bit of fungus in the dark. You can’t decide if you wholly like him, but you can’t seem to hate him. Then suddenly you realize you can’t wait to see how he escapes the next Dilemma while you are verbally shouting encouragement to succeed. I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. I wish, in the end that he hadn’t lost what was most important to him, but hey, he finally hits the big score. So there’s that.

The plot twists

The story is excellent. The narration all that much more noteworthy. Wow, great listen and highly recommended.

Conclusion and Morals (BrettD review)

KJ Parker did a good job of ending the trilogy. I very much enjoyed following Saevus through his trials and tribulations. I am also satisfied with the conclusion. The more I think about the end of the series the more morals and life lessons I find hidden in the story. Entertaining with good lessons.......that makes a great story.

However, I do have one caveat: I will attempt not spoil anything. At the end of book 2 Saevus gives a very generous gift to Stalrachia (spelling? audiobook listener), perhaps even grand enough to be the "big score". Never mentioned in book 3. The story hinges upon money problems that could be easily solved with the gift. I found that to be a troublesome plot hole. Then again perhaps I missed the one sentence justifying the gift's absence. If you know the answer, put it in your review for my benefit :) Thanks in advance (solving this caveat I will raise my rating from 4 to 5 stars).

amazing author I wish they would do more of his books! if you're squeamish and don't like f-bombs you will not enjoy this. if you don't you'll love it wonderful adventure stories fabulous narrator Bravo Tom Holt writing as KJ Parker
