Chock full of so many great insights. I have to agree with my friend Michael Foster this is a book you should read, re-read, and read it again. So many good nuggets of Truth to mine from this book. really good stuff.

Best work on culture war practical advice

Doug Wilson is one of the greatest gifts to the church we have had in the past century. His charismatic, wry style make this book come alive, even while working through the map of the war and giving orders to the troops. Everything about it is encouraging, and motivating. This book should be put at the front of every Christian’s reading list, immediately.

Pause any other podcast or book… start this one ASAP.

Not enough space in this little white box to correctly articulate the power behind this book. You must read this book. You must ingest this book. If you desire to make impact on this place or on the people God has woven into your story, don’t hesitate. Time is limited, then you get your casket and flowers, push play.

Duck a great book. I read or listen to it at least once a year.

Content Is Great, But . . .

In my opinion, the vast majority of Wilson’s books are great! However, the monotoned narration made getting through this book like listening to stereo instructions being read to me by someone who’s drained of any serotonin or dopamine. 😑🥱😵‍💫😴

This has so many golden intellectual throat punches against and immoral world. A must listen.

Moscow Gameplan

This is a classic Doug Wilson book: writing a gameplan for Christians who want to take on the culture and establishment unapologetically. Part one covers the strategy (the best part of the book in my opinion) and then part two is really a series of articles on different obstacles and difficulties, all the while pointing to Christ as the reason for doing what we do.

The second half is a little less interesting, as it becomes more of Wilson's personal musings than articulated strategy, but it helps get inside his head and his approach to engagement.

Worth your time

This work by Wilson will show you the rhyme in his madness and by that I mean it ties together his various works ranging from the classics, to raising children, to making fun of everybody.

Wilson has been waging a war of reformation all these years and now you have the chance to hear what he’s been fighting for and how he’s been fighting.

I wish I had been exposed to this book years ago, it would have helped me think rightly about engaging the broader culture as a Christian in our fallen world.

Key insight in this reading: mere Christendom. Only the Christian worldview can provide our society with the premises, authority, and grace to support human flourishing.

Key conviction personally: fight begins at home with my family.

Toby is a great narrator. My biggest beef: he botched the pronunciation of Calormen in the reference to the Last Battle.

Story: kind of lacking but that’s also due to the nature of a nonfiction book that’s turned into an audio book where transitions are not as easy to follow.
