Well Written and Well Read!

I want to give this book FIVE stars SOOOOOO BAD!!!!!

A well written book and AWESOME performance by the Reader. He adds emotion to the story which is a breath of fresh air from AI monotone BS we hear these days.

I think Jess Walter did an AMAZING job putting this story together when he originally wrote it. It feels very unbias and let's you decide the facts....until the last two chapters that he added in last year or so for, I'm assuming, the audible read. I wish he wouldn't have taken from the remarkable actual journalism he did.

That being said the first 23 chapters or so are REMARKABLE. it's the last 30 min to an hour you just think.....dude... no.....don't do that.

I understand it's probably because the story is twisted one way or the other in today's political climate and news, but he did his well written story a disservice with the recent add on.

That being said. I hope you get this book and listen. It's easy on the ears and I finished it in a week. I wish there were more books written like this and readers that kept you in the story like this one.

Updated Release Review

Jess Walter does an excellent job drawing on his background in journalism to tell the story of the Weaver family with depth and clarity. While I noticed some criticism of the additional chapters in this re-release, I found them both relevant and necessary to understanding the broader context.

The book highlights how the actions of politicians and government agencies can deeply impact the justice system, and Walter captures this dynamic effectively through the events surrounding the Weavers. Although my personal beliefs differ significantly from those of Randy Weaver and his family, I still believe they were treated unjustly by the very institutions meant to protect them.

Ruby Ridge by an Anti Trumper

This is the THIRD time the author has had this same book published over the last 30 years or so. His motivation for releasing it this third time, seems to simply be his hatred of everything right wing, and he spends the end of the book letting everyone know how much he dislikes them and Trump. But nothing he writes, none of the shadow he tries to case on the Weavers throughout the entire book negates the fact that Our Government - HIS Government, tried to entrap a US citizen so they could turn him into a snitch, and when that did not work, they lead an 11 day siege against Randy Weaver, his family and Kevin Harris, that resulted in the deaths of Randy weavers 11 year old son, his wife, their family dog, and the shooting and wounding of Randy Weaver and Keven Harris. After all of that, after a lengthy federal trial before a jury of his peers, Randy Weaver was convicted of failing show up for a court date. Kevin Harris was found not guilty on all charges. The author defends the Federal Governments killing of a man wife, his child, their dog, as well as his own and his friends shooting, because he failed to show up for court. Let that sink in.
