Resumen del Editor

One publicly imploded marriage. Two car accidents. Eight surgeries. And now, a miracle of hard work and storied talent: five Masters wins. Once hailed as "the greatest closer in history" before he fell further than any beloved athlete in America's memory, Tiger swung at the world's wildest expectations and beat the skeptics with his April 2019 championship. Roaring Back traces his road to Augusta and the improbable, phenomenal comeback of one of the greatest golfers in history.

New York Times best-selling author Curt Sampson details the highs and lows of Woods's career in three gripping acts. From his startling loss at the 2009 PGA Championship, detrimental obsession with his swing, and that infamous night involving an ex-wife and a nine-iron...to adoring fans and lucrative sponsors turning their backs, exclusive interviews with past instructors and PGA tour peers, and an arrest complete with a toxicology report...finally to Tiger coming from behind for his fifth green jacket as the crowd rumbled in Georgia, and how his comeback rivals those of the most dramatic in his sport.

As this enthralling audiobook reveals, Tiger never doubted the perseverance of the winner in the mirror.

Great context to a great win

This one was a good one for Masters week. It is short, only 6.5 hours, but a very good recap of Tiger’s rise, fall and rise again. It came out about the same time as The Second Life Of Tiger Woods. I bought and listened to that one when they both came out. I picked this one up on sale later. I chose wrong. This one was better. Curt Sampson is a great author of golf books. His biography of Hogan, his history of The Masters and his book on the 1960 golf season are all excellent. I’d add this one to that list. The reader, Kyle Tait, has been the reader of a few of my other golf books and always does a good job with them. The ending where Sampson theorized that Tiger could continue to contend in majors for several more years was sad given the context of the recent major injuries he suffered in the car wreck which now make that highly unlikely.

Great in site into a complex athlete

It's quite apparent that the champ has overcome alot in the last 10 years, very few could have come back under those circumstances. The author did a good job of story telling about a. Subject that gives little away

Good but not Sampson’s best

Compared with his master work - Hogan, this was a few notches down. But if you like Sampsons work, Worth the effort.

Cheap money grab for Sampson

Pretty clear he didn't want to fully research the material and provide new insight. He basically just rehashed stuff he and others have written before, much of it just to fill space... As an example, he spends a lot of time off topic describing how Ben Hogan had a good comeback too and telling you all about it... Conveniently, Sampson wrote a biography of Hogan (and a good one). But lots of off topic stuff and very little new insight on Tiger or his comeback

Leave out the Trump bashing

An interesting take on the book's subject, both the positive and negative. Very illuminating on other praise worthy comebacks by professional golfers who did not self inflict their wounds. Sadly, as is the code for left wing journalists, Sampson couldn't help but take multiple shots at President Trump, especially in the conclusion. Why not just leave out the partisan politics, which alienates half the country? This is the last Sampson book I'll ever read.
