Darker Shade is the first book in a series of standalones. It contains cursing, violence, and sexy times between multiple people, including people of the same sex. It's a darkish book that explores the thematic of death, so if that makes you uncomfortable, please skip this book.

I liked it sort of, but that ending?? **spoilers**

the whole reason the FMC grew up isolated and without her mom was because her mother thought she would be killed if the angels knew about her. Then, at the end when they are trying to actively kill the FMC, her mom just steps in and is like "she's not a nephilim so no laws were broken" The angels were all like "why didn't you report it " and her mom was all like "I don't have to answer to you". So basically, the grim reaper is a childish girl who doesn't give af about her kid. All she would've had to do was tell the damned angels she had a kid, and she would have been able to raise her own child instead of abandoning her family. SMH. I mean, if that was not part of the story, I would've liked it more.

Hoping for book 2!

Great story line, fantastic characters, delicious spice. I'm hoping for a second book. Also, great performances by the voice actors!

Absolutely LOVED

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn’t well written the plot wasn’t something so good it kept me on the edge of my seat. But I was laughing, giggling and smiling through out the ENTIRE book. I didn’t want it to end. It was too short.

Not what I expected

This was not at all what I expected: I saw Aaron was one of the narrator’s. Didn’t care for Isabelle’s narration; she sounded whiny and childish. The scenario of wanting all three men but not wanting any of them to have anyone else was a turnoff in this book; it’s wasn’t presented in a palatable way. Aaron did a great job with his narration, too bad he didn’t have a female to match his skills.

Not really a dark romance

It's a bit juvenile. Neither narrartor was great, the h sounded like a Disney princess throughout the book.  The h isolated herself from the world because she envisions the death of people and thinks people die because of her but she longs to join the world.  Once she finds out what she is, she's excited about learning everything she can do while her mother is making cookies for her. After only 6 chapters I regretted wasting a credit on this book.
She's excited about making friends, making out, & hopefully having her first kiss. In between trying to set a parent trap to get her human father and grim reaper mother back together, and both parents cooking her meals & calling her pumpkin, she starts a sexual relationship with an incubus & pain demon.
Then an angel claims her as his mate & that's basically the plot. The writing is simple and boring, the narrators are annoying and childish compared to other books of this genre.
