Acerca de esta escucha

From the creator of top career YouTube channel Self Made Millennial, the only job search guide you’ll need to get employers competing for you

Are you tired of sending out dozens of job applications every day and never hearing back? Or, when you do land interviews, not getting an offer, and never knowing why? As a former recruiter and head of HR at multiple companies, Madeline Mann has seen every kind of job application under the sun, and she’s here to tell you that the antiquated job search advice you’ve been told before is all wrong.

After years of working in HR, Mann began to share her behind-the-scenes insight into the world of hiring, creating viral career tip videos and posts online—and soon amassing nearly 1 million followers across YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok. In Reverse the Search, Mann distills her juiciest advice into a concise guide on how to turn the job search around, going from job seeking to job shopping—from desperately sending out applications to having your pick of jobs. By following the simple but proven steps—beginning with determining your ideal job through negotiating your final offer—that have landed hundreds of Mann’s career coaching clients positions at dream companies, you will transform into a lifelong Job Shopper, getting recruited and attracting opportunities at every stage.

Because Job Shoppers know they deserve to land more than any old job. They deserve a job that brings meaningful work, happiness, flexibility, and financial stability. And with Reverse the Search’s help, you’ll get noticed and approached, even when you’re not actively looking a job. You will have the leverage, and you will never have to perform a soul-sucking job search again.

So Far.. So Excellent!

I came across this book through a LinkedIn post that showed up on my feed, and I instantly knew it was something I needed to check out.

Right from the start, I felt like the author was describing me—I’m exactly the person the author describes who has embraced the 5 myths mentioned in the beginning of the book. But I’m also the person who’s ready to apply her insights and advice, and I’m confident it will positively shape my job search journey.

I really love the concept of this book. I’m only three chapters in, but it’s already clear that it’s a powerful resource. I’ve gained so much insight in such a short time, and I’m excited to keep learning from it. Time to do the work outlined in the book and trust the process!

A must read/listen for those in the job market

I absolutely love Reverse the Search! If you’ve been job hunting for a while and feel stuck, this book is a game-changer. Madeline teaches you how to shift your mindset from job seeking to job shopping, guiding you through strategies to narrow your focus, build valuable relationships, and ultimately land the interview.

With her expert advice, you'll learn to identify your strengths, gain clarity on your job search direction, explore a broader range of opportunities, craft a targeted resume, make yourself discoverable to employers, use her effective storytelling method, and overcome any fear of salary negotiation.

My favorite part was the formulas for crafting a targeted resume and transforming your responsibilities into accomplishments—pure resume gold!

Repeat Worthy

As Madeline says at the end of the book, “Read the book, put its advice into practice, read it again… revisiting advice, even when we think we understand it intellectually, needs to happen for true behavior change.”

From watching her videos, a lot of the strategies felt familiar—but I still picked up tons of new tips and saw old ones in a new light. I definitely recommend giving it a listen! These strategies can take time to really stick, so hearing them framed in a fresh way was super helpful.👍
