A Captivating Story with a wonderful narrator

I normally read fantasy books with a bunch of action, this was a nice change of pace as I’ve been wanting to get more into romance books and this is how the book felt.
Mona is a cruise director who’s come home to help her father at his inn. She also happens to be a Mermaid 🧜🏻‍♀️.
Jake he’s the Mayor, Fire Chief, and Werewolf Alpha 🐺.

This book reminded me of a cozy hallmark movie just with some fantasy mixed in. Mona is trying to help her father fix up the inn and Jake seems to always be in the right place at the right time. While as fire chief he does shut down the inn until they make some repairs, he does show up and save Mona when a fire breaks out. Then offers his help in making repairs. Then he spoils her completely when a car accident happens that is somehow “his fault”. Like every wonderful book or at least the ones I like the most there is a happy ever after.

While this is part of an interconnected world book “series” it can be read or listened to as a stand alone.

The Narration of this book was amazing. Sometimes dual POV books are hard to listen to when only one narrator does both the MMC and MFC. However Lisa Lynn did an amazing job giving both characters voices their own sound and feel without trying to sound like a raspy man. Lisa’s way of narrating drew me into the story and made it hard to pause and “put the book down”. I would highly recommend you listen to this audiobook if any of the above tropes catch your interest.
I don’t get much time on the weekends so this listen took me about 4 days.
I listen at a 1.1X speed.

Romantic Supernatural Tale Set in 5-Star Inn is 5-Star Read

I really enjoyed this romance between a mermaid who left her small town in Wisconsin for far-away places to return and encounter again a high-school love, the werewolf who never ventured more than 300 miles from home. The sparks fly when she wins him for a date at a local bachelor auction. She’s temporarily running her dad’s business, the only 5-star inn in Wisconsin for supernatural inhabitants, and he’s not helping matters any. You don’t need to have read the first book in the Faeries of Door County series to appreciate this second one, because it is truly a stand-alone, but I found it deepened my appreciation. This book struck me as having more even romance than the predecessor, Half A Faerie, which introduced this quirky midwestern resort town with supernatural inhabitants including vampires and selkies. If you’ve ever been to Door County, the popular resort destination sometimes called the Martha’s Vineyard of the Midwest, part of the fun is trying to link the humorously titled locations in the book to real-life spots, and of course some characters in the first book return, including the mischievous gargoyles. It’s a well-written story spun by a warm narrator, Lisa Lynn Sandlin, who also voiced the first book. A fun time and a good listen!

So good, but poor Jake!

Return to Mooncrest Inn was so good!! I enjoyed Jake’s character from the first book, and was so happy he got his own story! That man got put through the wringer so many times but I’m so glad he finally got his happily ever after. I loved that his masculinity was celebrated and welcomed, not portrayed as toxic, because it’s not. Mona was relatable FMC and I really liked her auntie Imogen. Can’t wait for the next book to come out!

This is a sweet slow burn second chance paranormal romance set in a quirky midwest town.
I loved how the author brought these two rather closed off characters together. Their romance is sweet and full of chemistry but without the spice.

We’re back in Riddle Hill, and all the magical charm, quirky creatures, and cozy vibes are here in full force for book two! This time, we meet Mona Lisa and Jake and dare I say, I might love their love adventure even more than the last! Jake is the definition of a man’s man (and I’m absolutely here for it), while Mona Lisa shines as a strong, independent heroine you can’t help but adore.

And let’s talk about Lisa Lynn Sandlin, she doesn’t just narrate this story, she performs it. Every emotion, every laugh, every bit of tension is delivered with so much heart and skill that you feel like you’re living in Riddle Hill right alongside the characters. She brings the magic to life and makes this audiobook completely irresistible!

Ms. Toni outdid herself with this novel! I won’t lie, I was curious to know how a mermaid and a werewolf together as a couple would work, but this story exceeded my expectations. I mean, who doesn’t want to read about an attractive alpha werewolf MMC (Jake) who studies Jane Austin in order to pursue his stunning mermaid love interest (Mona). Honestly, this book had it all: a dramatic love triangle, small town second chance romance, found family, and supernatural creatures. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Return To Mooncrest Inn and wait in great anticipation for the third installment Rhyme, Riddle, and Romance.

P.s. the audiobook version was spectacular as well. I definitely recommend listening to anything narrated by Lisa Lynn Sandlin!
