Resumen del Editor

On a dark, rainy night, I drove my overstuffed junker car back to a town I never expected to see again. And when I needed a rescue by the side of the road, a six-foot-tall piece of hot, unfinished business named Mark was what the universe sent me.

Three years earlier, I’d fled town (and Mark) to follow my wrongly convicted father to his federal prison, working crappy jobs to stay afloat and visit him every second I could. But now, Dad’s dead, and I’m mysteriously offered the best job of my life at the college where his life blew up when he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit.

Someone wants me here. Desperately.

I’m hoping its Mark.

Because if it’s not, I’m in more danger than I ever imagined.

And if it is?

Mark may be the most dangerous choice of all.

I Hate You, I Think...

Prepare for angst...and waffling. With a side of whining.
Carrie's had a rough go, and she's having a really tough time trusting people now that she's come home. That's completely understandable. She's like a small boat tossed on a big sea, and she lets her emotions rule her more often than not.

The story line is interesting and heart-breaking at times. While Carrie's past is pretty tragic, it was a bit tough at times to completely feel for her. She's not a very strong character, spending most of her time either whining about her life or telling herself she hates her ex-boyfriend Mark while she's trying to climb him like a tree. Hmmm... mixed signals bounce around her head like preschoolers in a bounce house.

Before I could figure out if Carrie was worth all her angst or not, POOF! The dreaded cliff-hanger hit. Dang it, I really don't like those things. I'll probably carry on with the next book, but I'll admit I'm going to take a break with some other books first: books that have a stronger female character. Then I'll be better able to handle the whine and waffle story.

Suspenseful with a Cliffhanger!!!

Good mystery with intrigue that has sucked me in. Mark and Carys story is very suspenseful with kidnappings, death and all the trappings of a good mystery. I only hope the story isn't dragged out with 3 books but it's got my attention and looking forward to the next book. The ending has me wanting more wondering (WTF) who this person is? But I like it and I'm hooked, roped in and want the next book now!!!! Savannah does a nice job narrating this book. Lots of interesting characters too.

Returning Home bk 1

In book 1 of this series we find Carrie returning home after her father was falsely accused and sent to prison where he died. With no family left, and nowhere left to go she returns to the place she grew up and try to find out more information on how her father was set up. Carrie finds Mark (the half-brother of Chase) in an investigation as local law enforcement still waiting for her.

Carrie take a suspiciously offered job at the local college where her father used to work, and wants to resume classes to get her degree. She makes new friends, connects with old friends and finds old nemesis' in her new job. But the relationship she holds most dear is the rekindled one with Mark.

Warning cliff hanger.

Slow,slow, slow

The story did nothing but describe which character in extreme detail. I’m not even sure where the plot is. Such a slow book, I had to keep skipping forward to get past half of it. I’m concerned about taking on the next two books but I would like to know what happens between The two main characters. Honestly I would not recommend it. It just wasn’t very good.

H - 3/10 - boring and secretive
h - 2/10 - whiney doormat

This is a short book and ends in a cliffhanger (which I knew going in). The h comes back after her father's death in prison. She immediately sees her ex, who arrested her father for meth production and distribution, from the college where he worked.

Throw in awful frenemies, strange work arrangements and a string of kidnapped girls and the story is a slow moving mess. The h is a complete doormat from start to finish and nearly half of the story is her whining about her situation or what she should have done. At one point, she walks in on her somewhat boyfriend and he is making out with her enemy since elementary school. She confronts him later and he gives a horrible excuse AND she is getting all hit and bothered and wants to have sex with him... What?

I will read the second book although I am fairly certain that I have a good portion of the mystery figured out already.

Worse book ever listened to

The author spends more time describing main characters sexual feel instead of the story. There really isn’t much of a story. I’m truly sorry for buying this and the second book. I don’t think I have ever disliked the main character as much as I do in this book!

Immature and lacking character development

I wasn’t not impressed with this book. It seemed very juvenile with plot holes. The characters were one-dimensional, and some of the things they did were just not realistic. It felt like a bunch of stereotypical scenes thrown together in a haphazard way, in attempt to make a story. Even the cliffhanger did not leave me wanting enough to read the second book.

***warning possible spoilers beyond this point****
So many things that didn’t makes sense, like if evidence clearing her dad was so easy to come by through printed emails, why didn’t it get presented when her dad was on trial?

Also, the main character has the hormones of a 14yo. Every guy is handsome and alluring, and her attraction to the main character is a little overkill. She seems to want him no matter what the situation, and can’t seem to forget he was the one that contributed to her dad’s arrest.
