Resumen del Editor

There’s no escaping your past, no matter how deep you try to bury it.

Morgan Tate has spent over a decade trying to bury her past, hiding behind self-imposed barriers. When she inherits a house in Pine Hills, Oregon, she decides it’s the perfect time to pack up and start a new life. She arrives to discover her new home is a dilapidated structure, filled with mysteries and secrets, and she’s not sure she’ll be able to live in it as required by the terms of the trust. A threat painted on one of the bedroom walls sends her to the police, where she enlists the help of Cole Patton, a local officer. Working together, her barriers threaten to crumble. Can she reveal who she really is and let Cole into her life? But only as a friend. The last thing she’s looking for is romance.

Cole Patton changed his life’s direction to become a cop after losing his childhood sweetheart to violence, but he’s afraid he made the wrong decision. He fears that someday, even in the small town of Pine Hills, he might have to put his life on the line. If that happens, will he find the courage to step forward? When Morgan Tate shows up at the police station asking if someone can explain a threatening message in her new home, Cole is eager to help her discover the truth about her late uncle. The task seems simple and safe, and it doesn’t hurt that Morgan is an attractive woman. He’s not looking for a relationship but Morgan intrigues him. When she’s put in danger, can Cole be the cop he set out to be?

Good Read

Remaking Morgan (Pine Hills Police #5) was another good read by Terry Odell. Morgan Tate has spent the last ten years trying to bury her past. But she has been hiding behind barriers she's created. She inherits a house in Pine Hills, Oregon and she decides to pack up and start a new life. Unfortunately when she gets there she finds that the house is dilapidated and needs a lot of help. She finds a threat painted on a bedroom wall and she goes to the police for help from Officer Cole Patton. They both start looking into answers about her uncle. I really enjoyed reading Morgan and Cole's story and enjoyed Kelley Hazen's story.

An Awesome Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. Morgan arrives to find the house she inherited isn't quite what she was hoping for and after finding a threatening message painted on the master bedroom wall, she's ready to pack up and leave. But she has too much riding on this "new life on Elm Street" for herself and her young charge. A trip to the police station starts a search for the history of her uncle and the house. You'll find yourself totally caught up in the characters as you learn their strengths and flaws as they unravel the mystery of the house on Elm Street. There's something for everyone in this series, suspense, action, humour, hope and a touch of romance, a very nicely rounded novel.

Not exactly crime/mystery yet intriguing...

Although it's the 6th book in the series, it's the first I've listened to, so I didn't really know what to expect. But the book turned out a really good listen, though I wouldn't really call it a crime or a mystery novel as it focuses on Morgan's attempts to create a new home, a new place for herself in life more than anyting else... even with the mysteries surrounding her in her newly inherited, dilapidated house...

Morgan is an interesting character; a woman trying to leave her past behind, trying to come to terms with a trauma of losing the thing she loved the most even 10 years later, trying to give possibilities of a better life to a kid she believes deserves it, giving a home to a stray dog... She is the kind of person you'd like to befriend - loyal, warm, full of love she's ready to give to her friends... Cole, the cop she meets on her fist day in Pine Hills, is equally likeable; he believes in what he does, he really "serves the people" and as a character, quickly warms his way to your heart.

The plot surprisingly keeps you eagerly listen on - I say "surprisingly" cause when you come to think about it, nothing much really happens in the story (well, one life-threatening incident excepted:)). Yes, there's a threat painted on the wall, there is a murder investigation going on - but it's an obviously cold case, there's no threat to anyone's life - and there's much more about Morgan's problems with the terms of her inheritance, her attempt at obtaining custody overAustin or her doubts about her romance with Cole in the book than about the crime they are supposed to be solving. And yet you keep listening to the book with great pleasure and keep your fingers crossed for Morgan to get her happy ending...:)

Ms Hazen does a great job as usual with her reading. The pace is right, voices very well done, matching the characters they are given, and there's a great deal of good acting both in dialogues and the narrative parts. This interpretation definitely adds to the appeal of the book:)
