Resumen del Editor

It's the early twentieth century, and the tragic deaths of her mother and two younger siblings have left Grace Harmon responsible for raising her sister Miriam and protecting her from their abusive father Luther, a zealot preacher with a penchant for speaking in Biblical verse who is on a downward spiral toward insanity. In the midst of his delusions, Luther believes God has abandoned him and devises a plan to get back into His good graces, a plan that puts both his daughters' lives in danger and unleashes a frenzy of events that threaten to destroy the entire family. Will Luther succeed in carrying out his crazed plot against his daughters, or will an unlikely hero step in to rescue them all?

Redeeming Grace

Redeeming Grace
: Smoky Zeidel

Set in 1928-1930 rural Maryland, Grace is acting as mother to her young sister. Their father Luther a preacher who literally interprets the Bible to say "beat your wives and children until they are submissive to the father's will." The listener will learn how Grace goes about protecting her family. You will be holding your breath to hear what happens next.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Johnnie C. Hayes brings the story to life.

Many layers of Redeeming Grace

Much tragedy happened in Luther's life, including the death of several children and his wife, leaving him with only daughters Grace and Miriam living. The tragedies suffered in this family seem to set Luther off and he spirals downward into mental illness where it is okay to beat wives and children into submission. Grace is able to get herself and Miriam out of that toxic situation by marrying Otto, who is himself caring for his younger brother who has some special needs.
But the story doesn't end there. Otto has things hiding in the past to deal with. Henry might be covering up something, Grace wants to forgive her father, Miriam has mentioned the Bogey Man and Luther has continued his downward spiral. And somehow all of these story lines culminate into one intertwined story of family relationships, forgiveness and grace.

This story kept me listening to the end as I wanted to hear what happened with the two sisters. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters to life.
