A beautiful lesbian romance about wants, love, family, and duty, asking when is the right time to live our own life and dreams.
English police constable Molly Blue is devastated when an assault forces her to endure weeks of therapy and disrupts her promising career. The cute physiotherapist getting her back on her feet is an intriguing distraction at least.
Physiotherapist Kudzi Mufaro is a bold, confident woman in every area of her life except one. She hasn't told her Zimbabwean parents she's gay. That probably explains the parade of men her family keeps trotting past her nose. Is it time to finally be honest?
But when Molly takes a visit home, it rocks her to the core. She is forced to decide whether to stay and look after her sister or not. It would mean giving up her career and any hope of something more with Kudzi.
Contains mature themes.

Narration wasn't the best and I almost stopped listening, but glad I kept going.

I picked up the ebook of this years ago and just never got around to reading it. Then when I was wondering around the Audible Plus catalog recently, I saw it there and decided to give it a shot.
Quick Thoughts:
- After reading this book, I’d consider it low angst even with how angsty it sounds like it should be
- The difference of ages is only seven years but it felt much larger because Molly reads very young, like just out of high school young
- As someone who has done a lot of physical therapy over the years, I understood Molly’s frustration on the slow, tedious, exacting progress
- I love rats
- Lucy was a fun character and a dang good friend
- Cat and John are the sister and brother in law that everyone needs in their lives
- Something I liked about this book is that not only is it an interracial relationship but also a multicultural relationship and both aspects play a part in the story though not as big a part as one would think
- It seemed like Kudzi’s friends were going to play a bigger part in in the book but they were barely there
- At times I wanted to shake Molly with how she just didn’t seem to sympathize with Kudzi. A lot of my enjoyment of the character lessened because of this
- On the flip side, I wanted to give Kudzi a big big hug. I understood her fear and stress
- I really liked the ending and the motivations for the changes both characters make
- The epilogue wasn’t needed but it was cute
- The two main reasons I didn’t give this book five stars is that I didn’t fully buy into them as a couple. I think it’s partly because they don’t actually spend a ton of time on page together. Also it felt like some story points were resolved too easily or didn’t really get explored
- Rachael Beresford did a great job. It was the first time I’ve listened to her and I’d be interested to see how she does narrating a different books
Overall I enjoyed this book though I wished some story points were explored more. I’m glad I listened to it and definitely recommend reading it that way.
Solid book, not great but good

The story was also meh! I'll definitely give the author and narrator another try but not with this book. The narrator is strong with purely English books.
I had to stop
