Resumen del Editor

Rascal may be the happiest beagle ever to live. He used to live on Voclain's Farm, with its whole jambalaya of dogs, but now he lives with his very own boy, Meely. Together they explore the Louisiana bayou, bunny chasin', coon and squirrel huntin', and crawfishin'. But when Meely gets stuck on a rotting bridge deep in the bayou, it's up to Rascal - with a little help from his old friends at the farm - to save his boy from danger.

In the spirit of Huckleberry Finn, Rascal is a classic coming-of-age story, but from a dog's perspective. With unforgettable characters and heart-stopping action, this zesty gumbo of a listen is one to savor long after it is finished.

I think the narrator does a great job at giving each character a voice that fits his or her description making it an enjoyable listen.

A Must Hear!

If you could sum up Rascal: A Dog and His Boy in three words, what would they be?

Brilliant narration make this excellent story a Must Listen To!

Any additional comments?

For those that enjoy Twain's Huckleberry Finn character ... this story holds the same charm & wit.

DELIGHTFUL, UNIQUE, FUNNY FOR THE KID IN ALL OF US

Where does Rascal: A Dog and His Boy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top!!!

What did you like best about this story?

It is all from the dog (Rascal)'s point of view. Sort of like "Babe" movies, where all the dogs, cats, etc. talk to each other and try to get through to the people (two legs).

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I loved the voices. At the beginning, Rascal is a young pup and the voice is a little southern boy. As Rascal ages, Hill aged his voice and inflection. He did a great job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I listen to or read books constantly, some being very serious or adult type fiction, some are non-fiction. This was a welcomed refreshing change. I loved the whole book. I will listen to it again. It is for all ages, and especially for animal lovers, and those of us who feel our pets think like people (I know they do, but that's just my opinion). Rascal's innocense and honesty is moving, and again, the voice is perfect for a young southern puppy. I also loved how the life of the animals is mixed in with the life of all the people around them, and showed how dogs miss their "two leggeds" and how animals help people and we sometimes don't know it. Take a chance on this one. It's like a Shrek movie after a month of documentaries.
