Great read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. I'm so glad I found this author.

Extremely enjoyable

This was a wonderful story. Strong enjoyable characters with a captivating story line. I would highly recommend the story. The audible narrator is also very good.

Perils of Pauline meets Torturing Mr. Bill

This story is the historical romance version of a bad soap opera. How many times can the hero and heroine in a story survive multiple beatings, life threatening knife attacks, and gunshot wounds? After the umpteenth time of having to call the doctor, they even joke it would be easier to give him a room in the house! Spoiler alert, there is more to this soap opera... wait for it, the heroine learns that her recently deceased "husband" was a bigamist. Every good story needs to have the main characters overcome some conflict or challenge to prove their mettle -- that makes the story interesting, but Laura Landon takes it way too far in this one. Having said all that, my favorite narrator, Rosalyn Landor, rises to the occasion and does the best she can with what she has been given to read.

More Romance Than Risk

I love the old “genteel” mysteries, however, this book was more mushy than mysterious. Tedious towards the end,—the first book in a long time that I almost ended before finishing.
