Good short

Aside literally laughing out loud at the Emperor sounding like Dr Claw from Inspector Gadget, I enjoyed this short. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story.

Cute at times funny listen

Any additional comments?

This was a cute very short story at times very funny. There are lessons to be learn here do not over think yourself, be careful when you do press the button, always have your equipment checked over and make sure it is in good working order. The author gives you some very good characters one wanting power and is willing to die to get it and the other just wanting to live on his little planet.

Mr. White as narrator blows it out of the water, it is a shame this is so short I really got into his voices and then it was over. His characters are well thought out with many different tones that make this a delight to listen. I found myself laughing not so much at the story but the voices he came up with. He really is a very talented narrator. This might be short but it gives the narrator just enough time to really show off his talents and just what he can do with his voices. I would enjoy listening to some a little longer to really get the full effect he brings to the listen.

The author does have a great plot with action in this short little read. I think it would have been better if it had been longer. For the type of story it was really a great little story he packs a lot into just a few minutes. There isn’t a lot you can say without giving the story away so I will just give you the authors summary.

Geekier than I would've liked

After reading/listening to the other Antigravel short stories, I ended up here looking for more. I'm guessing this was the first in the series, and to me, it's the roughest.

Firstly, it comes across more scifi geek with overly corny/obvious jokes and nods than it has to (like the name of the ship, really toll-your-eyes corny -- it was the same in the "Spaceship goes to die" story, but it at least felt more self-aware than here where the author seems to be trying to elicit a snort or two from a highschool audience). Secondly, unlike the other two Antigravel stories, there's no real point here. There's no clever twist, nothing to make you go AHA and ponder a bit... Just B movie Syfy channel plot and humor.

The narrator, while good, did little to reign things in and even made it a bit cringe-worthy at times with how he fully embraced it all.

Not a horrible tale, but easily forgettable and no where near the level of the other 2 after it.

Different from the other Press any Key story

There are two Press Any Key stories, the one in regards to the Earth is a tad more serious than this one seems to be. Here is a perfect union of a narrator who knows how to take the subject he is reading and amp it up. The story itself is about an alien Emperor, and the sole object that stands in the way of his ruling everything. Sometimes I wonder if people understand the term mutually assured destruction, let alone aliens. The narration alone is worth the price of this story as White provides some of the best voices I've ever heard in an audiobook. That isn't to detract from the writing, no no no. Saoulidis provides a great story, but it is the meshing of the two that really bring this thing to life. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Creative story, narration 6/5

This is the eighth book/story I’ve read/listened to by this author and I have a long list of his books in the queue.
Precise quasar alignment is all Emperor Jarri needs to decimate his enemies. All the complicated calculations have been made, all he needs to do is push the button at the exact moment. Easy right?

This is the fourth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Steve White ) and I would listen to another. His vocal range is great. He does a high robot voice all the way to a deep alien growl voice, American to English accents. This is voice acting with dramatic flair. I’d love to listen to a longer book by him.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Hoisted own petard

What does Steve White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

To me the voices were overdone and I could not understand what some of the characters were trying to communicate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book had me laughing from start to finish

A Fast And Fun Story!

This is very short but I still loved it. It reminds me of all the fantastic sci fi that
I used to read as a child. I also loved Mr. White's awesome narration. I think
he did a wonderful job with the different characters. I highly recommend this
story to everyone.
