Challenge your body.
Feed your spirit.
Change the world.
Ask any Christian woman about her most recent New Year’s resolutions, and you’ll likely find that “exercise regularly” and “pray more” were at the top of her list. We all long to look and feel our best, to live actively, and healthfully. More than that, we desire to connect intimately with our God. Yet physical health, and spiritual growth often take a backseat to the urgent demands of grocery shopping and bill paying, time with family and friends, and long hours at the office. It’s time to exercise your prayer life.
Three years ago, author Janet Holm McHenry suffered from depression, weight gain, and exhaustion. Then she began a prayerwalk routine that not only transformed her life but also profoundly impacted the lives of those around her. Learn how you, too, can set out on a journey to increased energy, better health, and greater joy - and experience a rich, full prayer ministry that will have a lasting impact on your loved ones and community - in PrayerWalk.

I often use my walk time to take in the next good read by listening for personal development. Hearing to Janet read the book was like having a friend along on my walk.
This book has given me fresh eyes to add prayer for my community as I walk each day. When praise to God collides with a walk, it will keep you looking up!
Looking Up

Janet’s lyrical voice and practical tips for prayer demystify the process. I was particularly moved by the story in chapter 9 when Janet became convinced she had to begin putting her whole self into prayer on behalf of her family. Crying into her pillow every night wasn’t cutting it. Any mom will relate to her story.
Now she spends rich time with God carrying others’ loads, and invites us to do the same as we intercede for the areas of our broken world that God has placed right here within our reach—within our walking distance.
Highly recommend!

Nobody was more surprised than Janet when this discipline not only connected her with God, but helped with her physical fitness, her depression, and her overwhelming fear. The story of the mountain lion and the swinging umbrella is just one reason you want to buy this book in audio form (narrated by Janet’s easy-listening voice), so you can listen to it while YOU hit the streets.
You will be glad you did.
You Have Time to Pray

Initially, I had wondered how a whole audio book could be created from this seemingly simple concept. But then, as I listened to the book, I realized Janet provides the roadmap for navigating relationships in a purposeful way.
And reminds us of relavent scriptures along the way.
Typically I sort out the details as I go along, and get frustrated at the effort of synching with others’ schedules, but Janet reminds us that God calls us to partner with others, and it is worth the effort and patience to find the right match. I had long thought of how to combine faith and fitness- even obtaining a personal trainer certification. Janet compares Jesus to our personal trainer who builds us up and she models for us the way - whether praying alone or with others. Janet takes us stride by stride on how to adjust our step to others. And shows what a prayer walk looks like, modeling what to say and what to do, and how to include others. So often we can slip into our own agenda, motivated by random goals like maxing our step count or speed on our activity tracker, and forget the perspective of being a light to others. Janet reminds us of the power of praying for strangers and family alike: from lifting up our schools, our government, and all the hurting people around the world. Imagine the changes if we all walk like Janet!

She explains the idea completely: how it came to her, how to prepare, walking alone or with a friend, and so much more. “Just one Grand Canyon leap to Him.” To knowing Him better, to trusting Him more. Janet revealed that prayerwalking had changed her life. Talking to God each day was better than extra sleep. Who knew?
Besides helping one prepare, Janet also tackles questions one might ask like - since Jesus said (in the Sermon on the Mount) to pray in your room or closet, privately, can we PRAYerwalk in front of others and not be calling attention to ourselves so as to receive our reward up front and in front of others? Her answer was thoughtful, researched, and satisfied me.
