Pregnant!

Book three picks up from where book two ended, Alek has returned to Novosgard leaving a devastated Sunday behind. His leaving triggered something in Sunday, it appears she's inherited a little of his berserker.

The news of her pregnancy is not received well by two of her remaining mates, but for differing reasons, only Kingston seems to be happy about the news. She is determined to get Alek back, something which seems impossible and she will need all her mates with her to fight whatever comes their way whilst doing so. She even goes so far as to ask Moria to cast a spell to bring him home, a spell which could have devastating consequences. She and her mates end up going through a portal to Novosgard to find Alek and discover the truth, but it's a truth no one was expecting.

What has happened to Alek and how he copes with it only reinforced my feelings about him, he loves Sunday and is prepared to do anything to prove it, and her joy at hearing him say Kærasta again brought tears to my eyes.

Caleb's behaviour is erratic, sometimes loving but mostly hurtful, yes he's conflicted but he's going to need to do some serious grovelling if he hopes to have any future with Sunday. Thorne after his initial concerns on hearing the news is steadfast but if the baby is his, will he be able to keep it and Sunday safe from the Council. We do learn who the father is, but even that's a surprise!

Kingston's character is one that seems to grow with every book, his witty banter and his quips are really growing on me and his steadfast loyalty to his Sunshine is so lovely.

This book was fast-paced, full of suspense, danger, action, drama, angst and betrayal but it's the romance and the chemistry between all five of them that make this such an incredible story oh and don't forget the heat!

Again, the book ends on a cliffhanger and what a cliffhanger it is! So many questions need answering but whether I'll be happy with the answers remains to be seen.

All the actors involved are perfect for the parts they play, it isn't often you get to enjoy so many talented actors working together to bring the authors' work to life. In this case, we have:-

Stella Hunter, she's just perfect not only as Sunday but as Moira and all the other female characters of which there are many. Each of the voices of her multiple characters is different and unmistakable.

J.F. Harding's performance as Kingston shows both his vulnerability and his strength, I love how he delivers the comedic quips.

Jason Clarke's interpretation of Caleb the ex-priest, now a voyeuristic vampire is just so good! His Irish accent is not only growly and commanding it also sexy!

Aaron Shedlock is an actor who never disappoints and his sexy performance as the Viking demi-god Akek was beyond perfect.
He has his berserker side down to a tee with the angry growls! His Alek is definitely swoon-worthy!

James Joseph's performance as Noah Blackthorn is spot on! Noah's a complex character, a broody vampire who's prepared to do anything for Sunday to keep her safe and make her happy. I just love his seductive whispers.

Shane East and Jacob Morgan are delightful and make their mark on this one although not as one of the main characters.

All their performances are so emotional, sexy and hot! The casting is absolutely PERFECT!

So close to perfect

From the narration to the pace this was so close to absolute perfection.
My only complaint is I really wished we would have dug deeper into Alec's story!!!
He's my absolute favorite...owell so ready for the final book!

So Addicting!!

The third book in this series just keeps getting better and better! So many new secrets have been revealed and the story is full of so many twist and turns. Each character’s relationship with one another and with Sunday grows deeper and deeper. I love the new bromance Noah and Kingston start to develop. They bicker like brothers. My heart breaks for Alek and Sunday. For a moment, I thought she had lost him forever. This story really takes you on an emotional rollercoaster but with a whole lot of steam mixed in. This full cast narration makes this story even better. Stella Hunter, JF Harding, Jason Clarke, James Joseph and Aaron Shedlock are incredible in this latest installment of the Mate Games. I am loving this series and I can’t wait to find out how this story ends!

Full Cast Narration is the way to go!

A great book made only better with a full cast of narrators. I’m now spoiled and don’t want to listen to any other style.

Book three continues the fun.

Yup, this series is excellent. I have enjoyed every book so far, and have loved discovering more of the character backstories as each book progresses. Spoiler: I was surprised to learn that the members of the "council" are the fathers of the main characters, Lilith, and so on. So, all of these people we have met as family or teachers are aware of the apocalypse prophecy and have never talked about it with their sons and daughters! I find that reckless and strange. I really liked the scene with the Good witch as the witches tried to identify the baby's father in the blood ceremony. Very well written! Can't wait for book 4.
