Sci-fi and horror are two genres that just make sense together. Swap haunted mansions for abandoned space ships, ghosts for virus-created zombies and experiments gone wrong, and the eerie darkness of the woods for the deep vastness of space, and it’s easy to see why these two genres make for a classic, thrilling combination. Here are our picks for some of the best sci-fi horror audiobooks of all time.

Bold Storytelling • Compelling Antagonist • Exceptional Narration • Recaptured Wonder • Exciting Cliffhanger

What a setup for the conclusion of the series in the next two books. Definitely ranks among great Sci-Fi series of all time. Right up there with Niven Asimov and Herbert. But.. It’s the character development and level of empathy that the crew of the Roccinante feel for each other and the author’s own empathy for the human condition that sets this series apart. So yeah two thumbs way up for James F—kin Holden and crew!

What a setup!

Too much change has happened in the gignormous time gap between last book and this. The book is obviously a filler in preparation for a larger confrontation in the next 2 novels. The story isnt as compelling as the first few installations of the series and there was just too much character history/development lost in the missing 30 years.

Also, its obvious the author is injecting some of his political views in his books. Its been happening more and more throughout this series, including the novellas. I get it's his book and his point of view, but it doesn't add the characters except to virtue signal to his audience.

Blah.. lackluster setup for next and final 2 books

James S.A. Corey continues to provide great storytelling. love the characters. I also love that they managed to take the series in a totally unexpected direction and still keep the story on track

Great writing, as usual.

When you make the decision to jump 30 years ahead in your story, you better have a darn good reason. They do and they pull it off with the grace and ease of the Rocinante slipping through a gate.

This might be the most action packed book in the series.

Really is the Expanses' Empire Strikes Back!

Well, this was my first audio book. I've never been an avid reader but there have been spurts in my life where I devoured large series. But the older I get the harder it becomes to sit down and read a book. I found this to be a nice compromise.

I was a huge fan of the expanse tv show. But it ended well before it should have and I wanted the full story so I pulled the trigger on audible. Not a huge fan of time skips in general. Often times in writing its just a way to create a lot of changes without really having to show or explain them. But this one wasn't so bad. I found the story interesting most of the way through. And I'm looking forward to starting the next book.
