Acerca de esta escucha

Months after a brutal double homicide in uptown Manhattan shocks the city, sensational newspaper headlines herald the arrest and indictment of Felix Acevedo, a shy Bronx teenager who confessed to the horrific crimes. But downtown, in the district attorney’s office, Butch Karp is seething.

No sooner does he bask in the relief of successfully closing the case on murderous imam Sharif Jabbar than he is thrust into the center of a high-profile prosecution that threatens the integrity of his office. An ambitious young assistant district attorney, seeking career advancement, cuts corners to indict Acevedo, disregarding Karp’s fundamental rule: Never charge the accused unless the evidence leads inexorably to proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Now, damned by a coerced confession and a frenzied media bent on lynching him, Acevedo sits in jail while a vicious killer stalks the city.

Karp’s wife, Marlene Ciampi, one half of the “crime-fighting family” proclaimed by the media, hits the streets for clues that will save the unjustly accused defendant. What she discovers puts her on the trail of the true perpetrator - a drug-addicted psychopath with an ax to grind - and a disgruntled police detective who is willing to lie, withhold evidence, and kill to be labeled a hero. But it also puts her in the center of a dangerous race to be the last man standing and if she’s not careful, one of the other players will take the prize.

From the gruesome crime scene to a trial that will leave listeners on the edge of their seats, Robert K. Tanenbaum’s unstoppable novel unfolds at breakneck speed as Karp and Ciampi fight for justice in a dramatic and challenging case that will thrill listeners to the bone.

Tanenbaum legal series keeps you enthralled in the story. Usually there’s two or three plots going on at the same time. Love the Karp and Marlene family…their multi-language speaking daughter and twin sons. The boys are hilarious.

Love Robert Tanenbaum Legal Series

Bitch and Marleen and series are back on track with a good legal thriller, after some previous diversions into whacky conspiracies and complicated goofiness. Still love the characters.

Just wondering why Stupenagel has an accent?
I love the Karp series and Audible is awesome

Great story

I have read and listened to several of Robert K. Tanenbaum's books. This narrator, Mel Foster, apparently did no homework about the characters before narrating "Outrage". Mr. Foster mispronounced many, many of the character's names (examples: Butch's secretary, Moishe Sobelman, Ariadne Stupenagle) and gave Ariadne Stupenagle a really, really stupid accent.

The story itself is very good, better than some of the previous works since Tanenbaum stopped co-writing with Michael Gruber.

But Mel Foster's narration / accents were atrocious.

poor narrator didn't do his homework

Would you consider the audio edition of Outrage to be better than the print version?

I only do audible books these days. I started this series over because there were many of the first ones that weren't available in audible when I started it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Butch Karp and the regular characters were as good as ever. It was shorter than most of his books, but I really enjoyed it anyway.

What three words best describe Mel Foster’s performance?

Not favorite reader.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I listened to it every chance I got!

Any additional comments?

I prefer RIchard Ferrone as a reader for this series.

As good as ever!

If you're not famililar with that term, then this review won't make sense. I have LOVED the Butch Karp series but the last two have just gone too far. I hope Tanenbam moves on to different characters and a new series. I won't buy any more of the ones with Karp. Too bad because I enjoyed his whole family. I am willing to suspend disbelief but throughout this one, I was glad it was only an 8 hour listen.

Tanenbaum has 'jumped the shark'
