This read was an eye opener. The link between the past and the present made me think of the fragility of the future of our beloved USA.

Required reading for the resistance

This book should scare the indifference out of you. Historical examples of how easily we can, and have, fallen prey to incompetent, vindictive tyrants.

An Essential Handbook for Right Now

The author succinctly offers insights into the human behavior and psychology that facilitate tyranny, and that can prevent tyranny.

Not entertainment

If you are looking for a book that gets to the nuts and bolts of our current political situation then you will love this short read. I think it should be required reading.

Such amazing insight into this very perilous point of time, we are living through currently in the US,must be shared!

Extraordinary

And exceptional analysis of history condensed into 20 profoundly important bullet points. Both the fast listen, and a quick read in paperback, it is a prescription for action as well as observation. Though the author's performance maybe less than that of a professional actor, using his own vocal inflection to lean on important words as only the writer can do seems both useful and admirable.

Though this is not directed precisely at our current president, nor is it to make a particular comparison between fascism and the same, it does make one think long and hard about the state of affairs in the world, and specifically in the United States.

This is a must-read, not only for history buffs, but for citizens of all nations who wish to be free and democratic — and most especially, the United States of America.

One of the most important & well-articulated books I've heard in a long time

I'll be honest, this book is so brutally frank in its assessments that it doesn't leave room for much counter argument. It takes a historical perspective on the current political climate and offers on resounding theme throughout: "we've seen this happen before, and it did not end well." But where this book differs greatly from every other "angry politics" book on the best seller list is that this one is does not dwell on the nebulous responsibility of the country to make things different. It very specifically puts the burden of change on the individual who reads this book, and goes further by reminding them of their dignity and capacity to see such changes come to pass. Listen to it, and then decide for yourself.

Excellent lesson

...but it's what every person who has an interest in democracy and freedom should listen to.
