This meticulously researched audiobook explores the concept of fame in all its fleeting glory and confounding inconsistency. Why do so many entertainers do so much better financially than peers who have comparable resumes?

Author Donald Jeffries also examines a subject he is quite familiar with: the myriad of unnatural deaths which have plagued the entertainment industry since the dawn of Hollywood. The deaths of John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood, and many others are scrutinized in exacting detail.

Jeffries communicated with many older entertainers during the course of researching the book, and their perspectives are included here. On Borrowed Fame will be of great interest to fans, celebrities, and anyone with even a cursory affinity for the world of show business.

The author documents the true stories of the multitudes that have been screwed over by Hollywood, the recording industry, managers, agents, and in some cases, by their very own parents. Jeffries examines the sad case of Spanky McFarland of "Little Rascals" fame, and the child actors that suffered many unfortunate fates. The author brilliantly breaks down how the digital era has cost recording stars much deserved royalties on their music. The book is filled with anecdotes, interesting facts, and gossip.

Eye opening look at the darker side of Hollywood

The narration is robot like. It can put you to sleep.
Some of the info is false. That’s problematic; you can’t fully trust the rest. But this book is crammed with info about the back stories of famous people. Much is a bit shocking. You can look up some of these facts on the net to verify.
In any event, I’ve enjoyed this book. I’ve backed it up and listened to parts of it several times.

Lots of insider info

Read a few chapters. Wanted to click 'Return this book' but didn't see the option. Every line is a jumbled in time soundbite, and for no informational reason that I could find.

Awful
