Acerca de esta escucha

Beneath the gaze of the gods, the mighty armies of Greece and Troy met in fierce and glorious combat, scrupulously following the text set forth in Homer's timeless narrative. But that was before 21st-century scholar Thomas Hockenberry stirred the bloody brew, causing an enraged Achilles to join forces with his archenemy, Hector, and turn his murderous wrath on Zeus and the entire pantheon of divine manipulators; before the swift and terrible mechanical creatures that catered for centuries to the pitiful idle remnants of Earth's human race began massing in the millions, to exterminate rather than serve.

And now all bets are off.

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre Olympos

Con calificación alta para:

The Audiobook Olympos By Dan Simmons Is An Epic Science Fiction Saga That Continues The Story From The Previous Book Ilium. It Imaginatively Interweaves Elements Of Greek Mythology, Classical Literature, And Futuristic Technology Into A Complex And Compelling Narrative. However, The Storyline Is Often Criticized For Its Convoluted Subplots, Meandering Plot, Excessive Details, And Abrupt Ending. Many Characters Are Seen As Underdeveloped Despite The Rich World-building. The Book Explores Themes Of Greek Gods, Science Fiction Concepts, And The Influence Of Classical Works, Creating A Unique Blend Of Genres.

Just throwing everything on the page…

…and hoping some will stick. So many subplots, a rape-ish scene for no good reason, characters made solely for the purpose of allowing the author to write bad poetry…

An epic story

This sequel follows the same formula as the first book. It is long and Simmons loves to say the names of Greeks, but he is following Homer’s lead. This series was not as good as the Hyperion books, but I happily finished it. If you like Simmons, you will like this book.

Good first half, terrible ending

For about 70% of the book. it's leading up to what should be a fantastic, epic conclusion. But then, nothing. Multiple storylines are just dropped off. And the storylines that are wrapped up are wrapped up in a very unsatisfying way.

Wait what happened

Great story that seems like it was murdered by a deadline in the last act. Could have been 20 chapters longer.

Very original, but too artsy fartsy for me

There is no doubt that this is one of a kind. Very original and creative, but also too artsy and boring in many parts.

Better than most Action stories

One of Dan Simmons worst books but better than most action stories I've read. this is a waste of time for Dan Simmons fans, unless you want to see him try and salvage a terrible story. it's the best action book money can buy, and I hate it bc Dan Simmons wrote it.

Classic Simmons

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is classic Simmons, he likes to take the classics, turn them inside out and spin them, dice them, cook them and serve them with gravy and potatoes . If you don't mind Homer spinning in his grave, you will like this book.

Any additional comments?

I like Dan Simmons as an author, he keeps turning out great stories time after time. I've read several bad reviews of this book, don't understand why. It could be me. For what it's worth, I liked it, great story, another winner.

A truly mind boggling enjoyable listen!

Would you listen to Olympos again? Why?

I have listened to it twice already and will again...the interweaving of historical fiction with scifi is just so tasty to have only one helping...

Re-read lines occasionally but a great story

at least 7-10 repeat lines, but it is hard to ruin a Dan Simmons story. I would put this in the category of Modern Epic.
