This is a well researched, engaging, and thoughtful read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Governor Cox provides practical advice on getting our country back on track, strengthening our communities, and returning to personal virtue. I love that he argues that we need more debate and healthy disagreement. This is not just a wishy washy plea for kumbaya. This is a call to do the hard work needed to maintain our liberty and democratic institutions. I wish everyone in our country would read this book!

Spencer Cox addresses the real problems with courage

This book resonates strongly with me. Governor Cox is saying the actual things that are wrong with our country. His stories and anecdotes are relatable and his overall message is exactly what America needs. I don't know who will listen, but this is the message that will save our country. Henry David Thoreau said "there are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root". Spencer Cox is hacking at the root.

Great message with one blind spot

It’s refreshing to hear leaders speaking to the need to step from social media into local community, to listen more than talk, to turn off the 24 hour news cycle, and to provide hope. I just wish that, while mentioning the big money and dysfunction in our political machine, he would have mentioned the anti-corruption act. Not only do we need to be kinder to each other, we need a system less driven by corruption/money in which our voices can be heard.

Optimism for our nation now and the years ahead

A wonderful, upbeat view of our nation, despite the difficulties it faces without rage and contention. Advice for those who despair, and the wisdom to get us through anything.
