Resumen del Editor

A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations

Hirsi Ali tells the stirring story of her search for a new life in America in this vivid philosophical memoir, picking up where Infidel left off.

Nomad is a portrait of a family torn apart by the clash of civilizations. But it is also a touching, uplifting, and often funny account of one woman’s discovery of today’s America. While Hirsi Ali loves much of what she encounters, she fears we are repeating the European mistake of underestimating radical Islam. She calls on key institutions of the West—including universities, the feminist movement, and the Christian churches—to enact specific, innovative remedies that would help other Muslim immigrants to overcome the challenges she has experienced and to resist the fatal allure of fundamentalism and terrorism.

Thoughtful reflections on culture and religion

Ayaan’s story is incredibly inspiring, and it is fascinating to listen to her dive deeper into the details than she did in Infidel. Nomad is not AS good as Infidel, but it’s a great read/listen nonetheless.

Enlightening

I picked this book up in a “free” pile at my auto repair shop, of all places. Since reading it, I’’ into her next book, “Infidel” and have sent the hard copy to a girlfriend and free audio books to 3 others-former residents of 3 Foreign countries; two Muslim men. Can’t wait yo hear whst they sll think of it. A compelling raw personal life story with serious implications for every PC limousine liberal in the US. Thanks Ayaan, for sharing the naked butt ugly truth.

Inspiring

Ayan's courage is inspiring. I often think if she was able to walk herself into the light maybe there is hope for the rest of us.

An amazing woman

I loved this book. it is an amazing autobiography of survival in a society with hatred, violence, chaos, persecution and fear. The author is then able to analyze what she has survived and what has made her stronger and present ideas for change, progress and peace.
She has a sweet, sincere and strong voice and is a wonderful narrator and needs not rely on dramatics or anger to tell her story.
I hope that people will listen to this informative book by the controversial author so that we may make progress in solving one of the most threatening scenarios in the world today.

Fascinating and Beautifully Written

This is the third book of Ayaan Hirsi Ali's that I have read and was my favorite. I suggest reading Heretic first to understand her entire fascinating story, but this one goes more into depth of the plight of an immigrant and their assimilation into a new culture and society, how she became such a role model for all women and important feminist, and the need for reformation of Islam. Her stories of her grandmother's struggles as a Somali herder to her cousin in America all carry an important message and her writing is beautiful. I very much enjoyed reading about her fascinating life.

Nomad

Hirsi Ali does and excellent job at breaking down the issue of radical Islam in the 21st century for a Western audience, who might not otherwise be familiar with the problems that it may pose. She gives a perspective from her own life in Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Kenya, The Netherlands, and America. Having been exposed to a broad array of diverse cultures, her heterodox views seem more legitimate as she speaks of the urgency with which the West needs to address the religious, and socio-economic toils of Eastern Islamic countries. She tells her own story of how she was raised as a Muslim, as well as the stories of her family and friends. This is necessary reading for anyone who wants to better understand Islam in our world today.

Listen to Infidel first.

This is a follow up to Infidel, but there are clarifications and additional history given that were not included in Infidel.
This is one of the rare instances in which I love that the author read her own story. While the delivery was a little dry in some places, I appreciate hearing her story from her. She is an inspiring and amazing woman who gives us a look into an oppressive culture from the perspective of someone who had the courage to escape and the challenges of adjusting to life outside of that culture.
