For some lucky beta testers, the only escape is to log into New Arcadia—a real-as-life role-playing game set in a gleaming 1990s-inspired city. There, they can enjoy the freedoms denied to them in the real world—like Prime Beta Tester John Chambers, who has reinvented himself in New Arcadia as street-fighting hero Blaze.

But John and his ragtag gang of friends have discovered that the virtual reality of New Arcadia was designed to be more than just entertainment. Secretly, the program is being used to test how effectively society can reintegrate once the pandemic restrictions are lifted. But a sinister Chum executive has plans to seize New Arcadia and shut everyone out forever.

John and his allies have found themselves abruptly kicked from the New Arcadia server. Now, this unlikely band of heroes must face their deadliest challenge yet—a perilous trek through the real-life dystopia of post-pandemic California, battling deadly drones and sinister Scummers in their desperate fight not just for freedom, but for the chance to rebuild society itself.

Then, back inside New Arcadia, they’ve got to climb the tallest tower and take out all of the bad guys. But first, they’ve got to put on a show. And maybe find love, too.

Loved it

Another banger with the New Arcadia feel. I love how Martin writes in the sound effects to make it feel like I’m playing 80’s video games. The side characters, mainly Officer Punk, can steal the show with their awesome performances and hilarious scenes. I’m so glad this came out and that it exceeded my expectations.

An ok ending

As a ending book the storyline ok. Kind of loses steam at the end fight. Think understand author reasoning. Was an enjoyable series

Not as good as the first two

The cast is top notch a usual. All books should be this good. The story has several holes and lacking in nostalgia compared to the first two but still glad to have an ending to this amazing series.

Great ending to a magical story

Such an original theme for a story and the ending did not disappoint. The combination of the post apocalyptic backdrop married with this incredible escape was fantastic to explore both. I wish I didn’t have to end but all good things must come to an end

Back to Form

This was a great way to end this series. This felt better than the second installment and a return to form for the series. Great voice work and of course loves the nostalgia!

Not enough stars

There is no part of this audiobook that isn't awesome. Not only did the story rock, but also the voice actors were incredible. Talk about an all-star cast! I was glad to hear the returning voices from the previous book, as well as two beloved actors from my childhood who joined the cast. And was Neil Hellegers the voice of the dad? I haven't listened to the end credits yet, but it did sound just like him.

I knew after the first book that this series was special. I'm still amazed by how true that was. I'm going to try to get my wife to read it, and she almost never reads these days. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

First 2 books were better

Seems like u just wanted to end it which is fine I appreciate the first 2 books but this one not as much but it’s a ok ending ig

Great read - you will fly through this one

The final installment of the Arcadia series. Same energy and fun with some new twists. This production uses several cast members which feels very real and natural. The pace is quick and engaging. Great fun and a nice immersive experience.
