Should be a children’s book written like it

It is written like a child’s book. And being read by virtual voice, doesn’t even do it any good

OMG - so bad - give this a pass.

How bad? Let me count the ways:

You can't hear the sound of gunfire on the streets below if you're on a modern building on the 12th story. Certainly not loud enough to wake you up.

They went on a date got hit with an EMP. Went to his place. He had less than honorable intensions. The next morning he raids a shoe store and gets her PINK tennis shoes and she wears them instead of high heels (doesn't change out of her nice dress, it seems to wear some of his gym clothes. No socks. No blisters. No sore feet. Nope. Not for DAYS. Then suddenly... ooo, my feet are sore. ROTC - she'd insist on better shoes and socks and would have raided his gym clothes.

Sexism out the wazoo. Female protagonist went through ROTC and is portrayed as an "eew, gross" girl who knows nothing about latrines with zero privacy, field exercises where you squat behind whatever cover you can find, understands modesty is a luxury, and has dealt with worse things than peeing off the side of the road. However, he does permit her to know about a pistol—how kind of him.

She's all upset about lingerie in his drawer. Really? Miss ROTC who only met him last night for the first time? FML.

Along the way they he's now the white knight who will save Miss ROTC from all harm. And they meet Santa Claus who gives them ammo and a firearm. Then they meet a veteran from The Sandbox who is thankful he can travel with them, because FML, this attorney bozo is a boon?

They walk through a town (bad idea).

They find a car (actually the veteran's idea).

They are attacked and he tells poor Miss ROTC to run for her life (she's undoubtedly a better shot than he is) and little sweetums does as she's told (puke).

We even have someone get in a chokehold to knock them out (takes about 15 seconds if done right), but suddenly those 15 seconds cause DEATH. And then the body develops INSTANT rigor mortis and is stiff as a board?

I don't have an issue with the AI voice. It's good enough. But the writing alternately makes me want to rage and tear my hair out or have fits of hysterical laughter. He describes how his "sad eyes" look. Really? Got a mirror, bub?

Is this writer sixteen years old and play too much Minecraft?

The AI was terrible.

the writing was very elementary. I was very disappointed. glad it was free. will stick to the authors. I know

Aside from it being poorly written, this book is dripping with racism! Every Caucasian is a hero and every brown person is a criminal. Not sure if it improved, I couldn’t even get through it. What a disappointment.

Great story.

I like the storyline. I don’t appreciate so narrator though. Off to find book two
