Resumen del Editor

On a bright, spring afternoon the body of George Wright, a childhood friend of criminal consultant Edmund DeCleryk, is discovered at a cemetery where casualties of the War of 1812 are buried. After conducting an autopsy, the medical examiner determines that George has been murdered, the cause of death by poisoning.

Lighthouse Cove Police Chief Carrie Ramos hires Ed to investigate, with his spunky wife, Annie assisting him.

Suspects include a physician’s assistant, college student, and a family member, among others; however, George’s demise may be the result of secrets that have surfaced from the grave.

You’ll discover what Ed found on the beach in Murder in the Museum and how that, and an artifact dating back to the early 1800s, are linked to this untimely death.

Annie loves to cook, and at the end of the book she shares recipes for meals she prepared for friends and loved ones.

Cozy mysteries at its best

The author describes a beautiful small hamlet that comes to life with every detail. Who wouldn’t want to live in a gorgeous place like that? The author’s description of characters and every detail of the small village brings the story to life. I love the twist and turns along with the surprise ending. The perfect read when you’re snuggled on the couch with a good blanket and a glass of wine!

A man from the War of 1812 precipitates two murder

Murder in the Cemetery-AUDIO, is an Edmund DeCleryk Mystery, by Karen Shughart in which a retired Ed, is now a contractor for various law enforcement agencies and his Wife, Annie, is the director for the local historical society museum. They are happy in their life. They have a lovely hoe, Ed has a boat, and they travel at will. They have plenty of friends, both individually and as a couple. All is well in their world until Annie receives a call from a friend who has something to show her. Could she meet him? She calls the friend she had planned to walk with a lunch hour and communicated the change in destination. When they arrived at the historical but damaged cemetery they found him lying over a grave . . . dead. She thought it must be related to someone in the cemetery, but they'd all been there for centuries.

As this modern mystery is unfolding, a story from the War of 1812 is also unfolding. It is not the same story that they all knew. In fact, the museum had a member who was considered an expert, who had written about this very man. The pregnant police chief who had almost no staff hired Ed. He went from suspect to suspect, following all clues, until there were no clues left. The writer was attacked but survived. Then, a second murder, which was related tot he first only by method. It was a good mystery. I enjoyed it. The murderer was a surprise.

The reader was John DiLeonardo who was not a good fit for this book. At first, I thought I just needed to adjust but I never did. The worst he did was make the dialogue sound choppy and contrived. I think I would have enjoyed it better in the written form.

I was invited to listen to Murder in the Cemetery by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #karenshughart #murderinthecemetery #johndileonardo

Great cozy mystery!

I love the twists and turns to figure out who the murderer is. Rum runners, description of food, history, and medical knowledge made the story interesting!
