Great Surprise

Aside from a few major hits, I didn't know who Alicia Keys really was. I wanted to start listening to audiobooks and read a few good about this one, so I gave it a try. Gorgeous surprise. Alicia has a very strong and powerful life and the audio is superbly produced. One of the best things in life is to meet new and interesting people. Listening to Alicia I did meet a great woman and became a fan.

Captivating

This book had me captivated from the very first till the very last word,I felt as though I was living in Alicia's world watching her journey,sharing it and feeling it along with her.It pulled at my heart strings,I laughed,teared and even identified with parts of her story,I have no words to fully express how this book touched me but I will say that every song now has a whole new meaning.

Absolutely loved, the way Alicia tells her story from how her life came to being to the woman she has become. She shares her strengths & her vulnerabilities, she tells hers how in listening to her gut, she’s learnt to make empowered decisions & stand in her own power - not giving anyone the right to know what’s best for her. I absolutely love how she positions love & how the partner you are with can either dim your light or in help you shine bright like a diamond. I loved how she showcases her blended family & what that should be like should that unfold on your life, how to forgive those loved ones who’ve been absent in your life; what growing up means & the respectful relationship that you should uphold with your folks, yet being true to your maker, how the creative process of creating value looks like, that hard work, sweat & tears is part of being successful & how to collaborate with others, the power of sisterhood & acknowledge those who’ve gone before us & the responsibility we have in creating space for others not yet at the table, how to negotiate business contracts & being mindful of your own interests; the power of intentional parenting in telling them our stories from our people’s persp& finally embodying All of yourself, your quirks, strengths, your heritage, the paradoxes

Recommended for all women from 13 to 103 years old.

I not just read the book but embraced the whole idea of Alicia’s journey. It’s real, powerfully fearless and yet so honest in all its failings. I recommended it to daughters, friends and women. For it is a collective story of women today, our trials and tribulations, for our place under the sun and for just division of women’s rights as against the man’s world it’s been so far.
