Resumen del Editor

After being attacked by a serial killer, being saved by Loki - so-called god of mischief, lies, and chaos - being dragged to Alfheim, losing every cent in her bank account, and caring for her grandmother, Amy Lewis has lost her scholarship to veterinary school. But it's all right. She has a plan.

If she manages to keep her day job as a receptionist and her night job as a vet tech, she may be able to get her scholarship reinstated and save enough money for the dreaded "miscellaneous fees". Too bad her day boss is unbearable....

Agent Steve Rogers has political aspirations, but when a suitcase nuke turns out to be something much worse and so-called Norse gods start showing up in his life, he has a priority shift. Meanwhile, Loki's priorities and plans haven't changed at all. He wants Asgard to burn. Of course, earthly pleasures can be so distracting.

These three disparate characters have little in common, but they'll have to join forces to save Earth from trolls, wyrms, frost giant invasions, and an old evil growing beneath Chicago's streets.

I’m hooked now….

I’ll be honest… I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from this series. I started it through Kindle Unlimited and figured it would be a good time waster while I was waiting for some other books to be released.

The first book wasn’t perfect and I’m still not a huge fan of the present tense narration, but now that I’m settled in, I can’t wait to continue the series.

I love Loki’s characterization and the author’s take on Norse mythology— you can tell they’ve spent a lot of time immersed in it and the textured retellings sprinkled throughout are probably my favorite thing about this series (Grandma Beatrice and Fenris notwithstanding). It would normally be a bit risky to have so many call outs to popular culture representations of Loki, but you can tell it’s done with affection for those properties so it works here.

I do wonder what they did to Barrie Kreinik’s narration, though. I really loved her voice in “Ariadne” but she sounds a little AI here. It’s not a bar to enjoying the series, but I wouldn’t want anyone to think this is her normal quality because she’s a lovely narrator.

Quirky new twist on Norse mythology

Totally pulled in by the very relatable single veterinary student Amy. All the characters ring true and its great to get to know the handsome Loki who is innately kind and loyal as well as wickedly clever.
The autbors is skilled in filling in Loki's extensive back story while creating a compelling 21st century adventure/love story.
I re-listen to this first volume over and over as Amy and her grandmother somehow quickly recognize who and what Loki is and because his loyalty and oath keeping trust him to be part of their lives.
The humor is great too.
