Very challenging slow burn!

There is so much in this book about Alex and Justine - flaws, infidelity, trust issues, and finally forgiveness. And if that’s not tough enough, how about living 3000 miles apart? I really enjoyed the superb storytelling by A L Brooks, the flow of her words, the two main characters and the lovely narration by Avery Reid with her American and British accents. This is the best “love at first sight I have ever read!”

Heartfelt and Honest

This story includes infidelity, mostly off-page. This would normally turn me away from a book, but the author never allows the characters to get a pass for infidelity. Instead, she has the them wrestle with the fallout and aftermath, dealing with their own emotions as well as the impact on friendships. The story may feel slow-paced, but it’s time well -spent allowing the characters to do the necessary work to grow from their actions. And to witness this growth was moving to me. It felt real and raw and included humanity’s faults and all. The performance was well done and a good match for the story. Highly recommend!

Worth listening to

First book of A.L.Brooks…definitely going to get more of the authors books! It’s wonderful when a narrator is able to put us in the scenes and help us see the characters as if we’re there, great read!

I didn't think they we're ever going to make it to a place to be together, it was torture loved the book..

What a masterpiece!

I absolutely loved this storyline and MCs plus friends in this listen. I'm so happy that everything turned out awesome for them because it almost didn't happen. I loved the gravitational pull that couldn't be broken even when the two MCs were 3,000 miles apart. They had so much passion and emotional pull towards each other from their initial first meeting all the way through. The writing was amazing and fulfilling along with the narration. I really enjoyed this story.

I enjoy read a slow burn romance and this one the best i have read so far.

You know what they say about distance...

This was a nice listen. We all need a friend like Danielle- ready to hear our stories and full of integrity. She got to me sometimes and reminded me of myself. This story had bith MCs with good friendsnto help them process theirissues with. It was a medium spice book. This is the first sapphic book with a nice spicy bar/dance scene I was really drawn to. Miles apart has different meanings as you listen through the book. And that Teri- I had her number... There's a lot of processing through what's been done to the MCs in the past.

The Story is Slow and Repetitive.

To be fair, I'm writing this review with 58 minutes remaining of the book. I don't feel bad doing this however because I don't see a massive change to the pace of the story happening. From the opening chapter, this book has moved along in almost a snails pace with the characters of Alex and Justine lamenting their partnerships with their ex's and wondering how anything could happen between themselves after a one-sided, quick fling happens.
I try to be fair with all the books I listen to, but some just don't have that 'click' that draws you in and makes you want to listen more. This is one such book for me. NOTE: After finishing this book, I stand with my previous remarks.
