The Drew Smith Series features the dark gritty urban capers of a District of Columbia trial attorney. Material Witness is the third in the series. He works to free an innocent man detained in a murder investigation enlisting the help of fellow attorney Edward Miller and TV news reporter Stephanie Gilchrist. The three become ensnared in a love triangle while Smith wrestles with his post-traumatic stress disorder. The team penetrates the Chinese underground human smuggling network and when their lives are threatened, Smith races against time to save them. Material Witness establishes Drew Smith as a seasoned attorney.

Great Story - mediocre narration

I really enjoyed the study, it kept me guessing as to who was response for David’s death; however, Toles narration was horrible. He reads without any life and he stunts the believability of the characters. I feel he should do some research on dialect and/or accents because there’s no way a black man, Chinese man, Hispanic man and an Egyptian man is all going to sound the same. He was so lifeless that the females sounded like the males in the story. Such a disappointment.
